In a modern world driven by the 'user experience' why do we continue to implement public benches with little thought for the end user?

Is the bench next to a highway? What a great place to relax! 😡
Is the bench facing a hedge? What a great view! 😡

Bad Benches is a community for sharing images of poorly implemented benches that are failing to serve their purpose and/or offer the public a poor user experience.

Rule #1 - Your post must include an image of a bench or seating installation designed for public use.

Rule #2 - Your post must indicate why you think it's a bad bench.

Welcome to the nostalgia-filled piefed instance of yesteryear.

Open Registration with Application questionnaire.

If you have a question or comment you can post in !meta@retrofed.com or message @DosDude@retrofed.com or @Die4Ever@retrofed.com

In case of downtime and/or emergency, we will post updates on @DosDude@mastodon.social

Some rules we try to uphold:

Be civil. Bigotry is not welcome. This includes (but is not limited to): transphobia, queerphobia, racism, ageism and ableism. We do not promote hate.
Communities need to be Retro or Retro-adjacent.
Please don't upload pornographic content. (use an external image host for that)
