RetroFed Forum

Free music or libre music is music that, like free software, can freely be copied, distributed and modified for any purpose. Thus free music is either in the public domain or licensed under a free license by the artist or copyright holder themselves, often as a method of promotion. It does not mean that there should be no fee involved. The word free refers to freedom (as in free software), not to price. – Wikipedia

The Free Music Philosophy (v1.4)

If you have a question or comment you can post in !meta@retrofed.com or message @DosDude@retrofed.com or @Die4Ever@retrofed.com

In case of downtime and/or emergency, we will post updates on @DosDude@mastodon.social

Some rules we try to uphold:

Be civil. Bigotry is not welcome. This includes (but is not limited to): transphobia, queerphobia, racism, ageism and ableism. We do not promote hate.
Communities need to be Retro or Retro-adjacent.
Please don't upload pornographic content. (use an external image host for that)

When radio free fedi died, I had a tough time finding something to replace it. But then I did. Hope this site manages to find a way to segment its labor needs a bit better (theindiebeat.fm)	0	America	1	Tue Jun 17, 2025 5:50 am »
