Experimental - Replaces the old Dev and Canary channels. Early access to features under active development; things may change, get delayed, or never ship. Lets you turn specific new features on or off with Feature flags. For enthusiasts who want their feedback to shape what gets built.
Experimental (Future Platforms) - The earliest preview builds, not tied to a retail Windows version (formerly Canary 29500 series). Requires a clean install to leave.
Beta - Previews what's shipping in the coming weeks. No more gradual rollouts: if a feature is announced for a Beta build, you get it. More stable; for early adopters.
Release Preview - Now an advanced option. Production-ready builds a few days before broad release. Aimed at commercial users and anyone wanting the most stable preview.
Old to new: Dev → Experimental, Canary → Experimental, Beta → Beta.
