Good. Then make the distinction that the administration is guilty, not the people. We are literally dying in the streets fighting them and it's wrong of you to blame us.

That's always the case though isn't it? Either way good luck to you all fighting back and I hope you're successful, the struggle within the US definitely matters

Isn't war something that needs to go through congress? On top of that, isn't this an international joint operation between two nations that DEFINITELY would need to go through congress? Doesn't matter? Okay.

I suppose congress should do something about this overreach then!

Constitutionally, war should go through congress. But we haven't followed the constitution in a very long time, obviously... decades that's what makes someone like Trump possible, and here we are.

we haven’t followed the constitution in a very long time

But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.

Nice war target eh? A couple of schools. Known to house the military though, right?!

I'm sure we'll hear about the Hamas tunnels any day now, assuming the media bothers to report on it at all

At the moment, it just sounds like "America is finally winning again" on all channels and frequencies

A drastic increase in military funds to Israel took place during the terrorist Biden regime:

No no no. Trump is worse.

This isn't a single continuous policy escalated intermittently across both regimes.

Do you think Harris would have kept us out of Iran? Why? We don't vote for this, it always IS regardless of voting. According to polls, most voters don't want us fighting in the middle east or anywhere else. Ever.

Do you think Harris would have kept us out of Iran?

She's not Trump. That's all that matters.

If she hadn't bombed Iran, it would be because she was kinder and wiser and more serious. If she had bombed Iran, it would have been for better reasons and with more international support.

But the important thing is that she wouldn't be Trump.

Hasn't it kind of already started? All these individual wars are always backed up by either of the two big economic blocks: China and its allies vs. USA and its allies. It really looks like a rehearsal before a full-blown confrontation.

They mean that you talk big about "our work" as activists, all while you're here spending your time and a not insignificant amount of your energy posting about a non-issue.

Look, I'm going to level with you here under the assumption your heart is in the right place and that you really do do some actual activism. First of all, you're making this shit about you in a post detailing the mass murder of school children. You (when not posting cringe on lemmy) are really in the streets protesting against the murderous, imperialist, genocidal actions of the United States? Good! Keep it up, though I hope you're doing so as part of an organization. But it is hard to imagine that you really are when you're here, thinking it's important enough to argue the "not all whites men USians!" line.

Even setting aside the fact that directing your indignant energy towards yourself and demanding others do the same, like you are the aggrieved party in a post about the bombing of children in other countries is cringe.... Literally no one who says "the US is a terrorist state" is implying that every individual between Mexico, Canada and the Pacific and Atlantic oceans is a terrorist, or that every single one of them condones the terrorism that the US is committing, or even that some of them aren't actively in opposition to it. What you are arguing about is not relevant. And what's more, it's petty and self centered.

Sure there's been a wave of imperialist wars, but it would have to cascade out of control and legitimately threaten world superpowers directly for a world war to break out. All this adventurism taking place is unfortunately just par for the course. IMO something truly unprecedented like the US launching a ground invasion against Mexico would have to happen to set off a cascade. I don't think even airstrikes on Mexico would do it, only a ground invasion.

Edit: not even 3 days since I made this comment and I think I may be horribly wrong. Israel employing the same genocidal tactics in Iran that they did in Palestine, Shiite uprising in Bahrain and Saudis sending in forces to put it down, US and Israel setting the stage for Kurdish forces from Iraq to invade Iran, submarine strike on Iranian ship in the Indian Ocean, China and Russia providing satellite support for Iran, Israeli ground invasion in Lebanon. The cascade seems to have begun.

"The Trump Administration" is a terrorist state. You're blaming the wrong people if you think the citizens who march in the streets everyday against this villainy are the perpetrators of this violence. Be better, please.

Oh please average Americans have been openly calling for this for decades and celebrated when they finally did it. Your crocodile tears fool no one and you're only protesting now because the current administration was a little mean to white Americans as well, you never gave a shit about what Americans did to anyone else, not now, not ever. Before this was y'all celebrating the "liberation" of Venezuela, Iraq, the Banana Republics, and on and on and on. You brush aside any civilian casualties with a handwavy "well I for one didn't want that to happen" and then pretend everyone else criticising you on it are the problem, yet you keep cheering on the military strikes for regime changes themselves as if they're separate isolated things. Even now you're more concerned with how people criticising Americans need to "be better" for how they phrase their criticisms because it's apparently a worse crime to hurt your feelings.

Fuck America and fuck Americans.

The Iranians' biggest mistake here were to be weak. Ever since 2020 when Trump first attacked them, they failed to achieve any meaningful retaliation, and they have successively failed to achieve any till today.

Seeing that Iran did nothing but a face saving strike when the US took down Solemeni, the Israelis went ahead with striking their consulate in 2024. Seeing yet another weak response, they went for all out strikes on their facilities in 2025. Yet again no retort from Iran. Well, guess what? Now they're rampaging all over the bloody country.

The Americans' assessment of Iran was clear. Iran would not establish any form of deterrence because it clings to the delusions of having a negotiated settlement being ratified, which the Americans themselves never had any intention of signing.

Had the IRGC and Hizbullah replied in a tit-for-tat each time to punish American and Israeli assets in the region for their illegal and insane actions, clear deterrence would have been established and Iran's red lines would have been backed with some credibility. The Americans would not have been so keen to act with such impunity. But again, because of the Ayatollah's futile hope to keep the door open for future negotiations, they've sabotaged their own position as well as their nuclear program. And the result now is that both the IRGC and Hzb have been split apart and are being destroyed one at a time.

Ironically, the Ayatollah's half-hearted policy towards American aggression is what probably cost him his life and those of his immediate family today.

Trump is essentially a shark in the water (no disrespect meant towards sharks). If it smells blood, it will pounce on its prey, no questions asked. But if its prey is willing to struggle, it will move on to another already injured target.

The biggest mistake to make against this kind of adversary is to show weakness. But Iran could not understand that.

There was an IRGC naval base 200 to 600 ft away from it so collateral damage is likely, but Israel should have certainly been more careful and targeted.

lol, I was perfectly calm and not angry in the least. That's still the case. In fact I was stoned and probably a little too chill when I wrote the above comment. If you read anger into that, you were waaay off.

Tbh, I was feeling generous and taking the time to explain to you why everyone here was downvoting you about things you didn't seem to understand as a gesture of good faith and good will, trying to help out what appeared to me to be a naive baby leftist (something most of us were at some point), not wanting you to feel bad for getting so trounced.

At this point, assuming you're sincere and aren't just a derail troll, I think the only thing for you is to lurk moar.

even though that post was removed by mod for some reason.

Just want to point out that the reason that one comment of yours got removed (I presume - I didn't do it, I'm not a mod) was because you were explicitly blaming non-voters for the genocide.

There were many many people who didn't vote in the last election because they saw that both "meaningful" options were fascists, the blue flavored ones who were currently in power at the time and who were already committing the genocide and promising to do it even harder if reelected OR the red (orange) flavored fascist who also promised continued genocide. The people who refused to vote for any genocidal fascists regardless of flavor are not responsible for the fact that the genocide continued unsurprisingly under the red flavor.

So when fans of the blue fascists come in here upset their blue flavor didn't win and start blaming the rest of us (when the blame actually belongs squarely on the shoulders of their blue candidates for their abject failure to do the bare minimum and simply oppose literal genocide) it just turns into a blue MAGA shit-flinging episode that we've already dealt with and debunked countless times. So the mods nip it in the bud and remove comments that wrongly blame people with anti-genocide principles for the genocide. And your comment got a little too close to that line. So, now you know.

Liberating them of their mortal coils

sth sth stairway to heaven

explanation: i can't find a link rn but it's a core christian concept that people should go to heaven, and that's more or less the entire point of society. and methods employed are hard work (since that is believed to "rectify" your character which makes you more likely to go to heaven).
