I fuck with this hard. I always pick weird foods when I go to a new restaurant, stuff that I don't know what I'm getting, and if it's bad I eat it, if it's good I eat it.

I live with the consequences, and as a consequence of that, I have found some amazing meals and foods that I never would have eaten if I hadn't experimented.

Any amazing recommendations? Anything horrible to avoid? I would love to hear your experiences

I think some people view coffee from shops as paying for… the experience? The barista offering to make her something else. But I'm like that lady - I made the choice, I live with the consequences. lol. Nobody made her order that. But it was nice to be offered the remake. But I also probably wouldn't've taken it. lol. Just… remembered for next time. hehe

That said, I think some coffee shops do price their coffee more on the "experience" than the product/taste… heh.

my amazing surprise recommendation doesn't seem that crazy but the summer before last a new ice cream parlor opened up next to my favorite sushi place and i decided i'd get a little treat after my lunch. i had the wild idea of making not a rootbear float nor an orange creamsicle float but a bizarre fruity bastardization float with rainbow sherbet in this locally bottled lime soda. it looked radioactive and tasted like an industrial disaster but, like, in a good way.

how i came to love drinking Guinness. The first drink was nasty but by the time i finished the second there were aspects of the flavor that i couldn't detect earlier that suddenly came through, and i've enjoyed it ever since.

yeah so like my mind goes there too, i've had those chocolate oranges and they were amazing and i loved orange creamsicles so you'd think that if something goes good with chocolate and cream it'd go good with other things that also go good with chocolate and cream

Not a restaurant but I feel like I've tried about everything from the fridge or pantry on a peanut butter sandwich.

Banana fluffernutter is as awesome as it sounds. Pickles are weird but not exactly bad. Jellybeans are kinda good, or maybe I'm weird. Peanut butter pepperoni is surprisingly good. But I especially love savory applications of peanuts (like OMG a good satay) so what you should really try is curry powder and a fried egg with scallions on your PB sandwich.

Coffee with a bit of chocolate with orange in it, which is nice, would actually make me think that a bit of orange syrup in coffee would work as well.

Unless it's fugu and you don't have 110% confidence in the chef 😁

I mean...fully carmalized onions are pretty sweet. They take something like an hour to make, but if you added a cheese foam to the coffee, you could have a really interesting, earthy drink.

It would still taste like shit, but it would be interesting.
