I don't want to see another gun ban because I know they don't work. I'd rather see the root causes of violence addressed. If you address poverty, unemployment, homelessness, and mental illness with robust social programs and treat them as the systemic public health issues that they are, bans are unnecessary because crime will be obsolete.

Banning guns with a law, enforced by police to whom the law does not apply, won't stop gun violence; it will further entrench the police state.

If simply having guns lead to gun violence, then other countries with higher rates of gun ownership than the US would have the same problems with gun violence.
