Someone needs to develop chocolate bullet startup.

The ideas is veeery simple, develop a gun to shoot chocolate into mouth. It will be toxic to these war beasts, but tasty to us humans.

TF is it with these tech lord trash taking LOTR names for businesses? Anduril, Palantir, etc?

"The Palantir stones themselves cannot lie, but powerful users like Sauron can selectively control what is shown to trick or break the will of others (such as Denethor or Saruman)."

Almost like a confession. It is like some idiot read 1984 and decided it is in humanity's best interest to install the goverment in the book, completely senseless and sociopathic.

Remember if you buy shit from ModRetro like the M64 you are literally funding this fuck head. If one of your friends has that knock off GameBoy or n64 inform them, if they shrug it off reconsider your relationship with them. Seriously the excuse of no ethical consumption under capitalism doesn’t fly. There is a direct line from ModRetro to this arms dealer called Palmer and ModRetro sells just ...

I think you have misunderstood what "There is no ethical consumption under capitalism." means. It's not an excuse to allow yourself to buy ModRetro, it's a reminder that existing inside a capitalist system is itself unethical. Although you may not have a choice. It's not an excuse, it's a condemnation. People misuse it to mean they exist and it's impossible to avoid participating in capitalism regardless of moral objections but that's not what it means.

Speaking to Wired, Lamm explained that the project was twofold. One part of the project would oversee the genetic engineering and cloning of the ideal dogs for war, and the other would develop tech for them to use on battlefields. Sounds like weaponized cyborg dogs is where this is going

Like Elon Musk, I think Lucky read Snow Crash and decided to make it his entire personality. This reads like Rat Things. http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/content.asp?Bnum=1744

Yeah but they call themselves that.

No one else calls them that. It's like a dude at a frat party trying to invent his own nickname. He keeps introducing himself as Cobra or Maverick or some shit and everyone just rolls their eyes and says "sure thing Steve whatever you say."

A lion dog. The price is about right if you think about it. How else will you get a trainer brave enough to approach a real live lion, offer it a chihuahua and then have the lion hump the chihuahua?....oh, you brought a male chihuahua, and now it is humping the lion? Both a trying tp eat you?....oh you brought a large dog and the baby dog is a monster 2 stories tall with insaciable hunger for human flesh?....those could be problems. But you never see a lion eagle hybrid because that's just not gonna happen.

I know bro, it was a joke. Not the injection part though. Though that did give me a giggle. I'm a GI Joe.

So this is awful and stupid, but what I really want to know is what they think they can genetically engineer that can out perform a Belgian malinois for energy and physicality or a bloodhound for scent work. Like working dogs are already incredibly finely tuned through massive breeding programs.

Society says we can do human eugenics, so we'll just do dog eugenics as a treat

This is puzzling. Robot dogs have more potential, and German sheppards and Dobermans have good mix of agility speed and strength as it is. Would take about 10 years to get 5 generations of supremacy. An army takes an army of trainers.

I get that the goal is genetic engineering rather than breeding. But getting dogs to make 8 babies per year is orders of magnitude cheaper than test tubes and incubators at volume.

Palmer Luckey is such a loser. He makes absolute bank by selling Oculus to Facebook and then decides with all that money his time is best spent developing weapons to help kill people more efficiently. We need more people like MySpace Tom who, after making a load of money, stepped away and pursued his artistic interests and turns out the guy is a really good photographer.

Palmer Lucky is one of the worst but MySpace Tom isn’t much better.

This is the same Colossal Biosciences which has been outright lying about recreating extinct species to drum up cash from investors. And when you look at some of the stuff they're pretending to do for this goal, e.g. artificial eggshells for dodos, it is quite obvious they have ulterior intentions.

After selling to facebook he got flack. And then became an open supporter of Trump. He became hated.

My guess is that he's a narcissist similar to Elon Musk, so him hearing himself called a looser and asshole (like he is) triggers him to be worse. To go "I'll show him". To do a nazi salute or you know, engineer dogs for war to oppress people more efficiently. Any supporter of Trump is obviously a psycho with no moral center, but if they also have narcissism and money and power, well it can get much worse.

Which frankly speaking is baffling since even the fucking Romans considered their war dogs as something of a necessity and not as a prestige thing. Like they gave those hounds and their masters a tonne of respect which was often times worth more than gold in Roman society.
