House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after midterm elections.

“I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader added.

The House minority leader has lauded Democrats’ push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to pick up additional House seats and signaled that the party will advocate more for working-class Americans, after Democrats saw losses from the key demographic in the 2024 election.

The majority of voters don’t want to abolish ICE. Just like they didn’t want to defund the police.

I disagree. Democrats need to appeal not to reactionary right-wing or centrists, but rather people who did not vote, by using left-wing populist messaging to counter right-wing populism.

Look at the success of Mamdami as a template. People didn't vote because they felt like Harris was not worth voting for. She lost because she didn't actually offer anyone what they wanted, she was just a harm reduction candidate at best. They probably won't do shit about cost of living either. The only time it's gone down in the past 20 years was in 2009 after the housing market crashed. That likely had more to do with the recession; and if anything the Democrats' actions were a hindrance to that reduction.

I'm not sure what you are saying with this. Mamdani ran as a Democrat. Cuomo switched and ran independant when Mamdani beat him in the primary. So, a Democrat won, instead of a third party. Which is exactly what I said in my post. Am I misreading what you've said?
