(edit 3/23/25: re-stickying this since we've gained a lot of new users in recent months)

I just want to post a reminder that this is the general memes community, and we'd prefer for political memes to be directed to c/politicalmemes.

Thanks, TPM

Infringing on Canadian culture.

Making fun of politicians is one of our favourite national pastimes.

What about events that happened over 50 years ago?

Or events like the Titanic, which was very political at the time?

The spirit of the rule is to keep the memes community from being a place for proselytizing one's politics.

So, for example, using a >50 year old event in a meme to show "this is why communism is bad" or "It's like we're all on the Titanic, because we've gotta watch out for ICE!" would both be rule-breaking, but something like "local man named Abe Lincoln refuses to go to theater" would be fair game.
