I explained why this is not just a preference. Having unlimited downvotes creates an environment where you have to downvote everything you disagree with because there are people who treat forums like a competition and bury your content unless you do the same. At that point it’s easier to equalise voting impact by disabling or limiting downvotes. My latest favourite metaphor for this: If you’re ...
That metaphor would be applicable if you could see through the person. Down votes could be implemented in a way which you could just ignore or disable in your client without depriving others of a signal they value. |

It’s not a matter of what I choose to see but what everyone using default settings sees and how it affects the way they interact with other users. |

As I posted above:
I support rate-limiting. I also feel that clients should enable their users to configure their own views, and be able to cast their votes as they see fit without any authoritarian push to control what should be their choice. |

@rimu on "Tokens used by mobile apps can be set to expire, using the JWT_EXPIRY_DAYS environment variable" let me know if you need any review from an OAuth perspective, happy to try to give info/feedback! |

Oh, right. There was a Lemmy instance that had lots of communities being populated from RSS feeds, is that still running? I have bot posts hidden so I don't see them... |

That's it. I didn't realise it was gone... Ok, so that opens up a niche for PieFed. I've wanted to code that feature for years but there's always been a Lemmy instance with a bot that does it. Now that there isn't, that raises the priority of the feature. |

Nice! Honestly I've yet to find a good RSS reader. Newsflash is the closest thing but I would prefer a server-side implementation. Would be really cool to have it baked in along with my PF communities. Bonus if it scrapes content and it can easily cross-post! |
