Well, there's no acronym for this. We have CLM (clueless mod) for when a mod just doesn't know what the hell they're doing. We need a CLU for when a user steps into a trap lol. Some accounts on the fediverse are known for some variety of fuckery or another, and it isn't really power tripping when one of those mods engages in their known form of fuckery. It's like buying a used Ford Pinto; yeah,...
I'd say the mod takes it too seriously for it to be a troll community. It certainly is a trap, whatever that means. |

lol this person complains constantly about how hostile Linux users are. meanwhile their whole personality seems to be based upon finding people talking about Linux so they can be an asshole. then there's this: Atheist critical of the Abrahamic dick skinning death cult
Honestly that last part is based. |

uh macOS is a derivation from BSD???? reading your comment I mean. Also wasn't macOS unixlike and not unix or something?
macOS has always been a BSD distro. macOS (and Mac OS X before it) is rebranded NeXTSTEP— the only thing of real value to come out of NeXT, Inc, other than Objective-C and Steve Jobs. Oh, and Jonny Ive, of course. The original Macintosh System Software 1 - 9 was not, but ever since Apple acquired NeXT, Inc… NeXTSTEP (a variant of BSD) was adapted to become Mac OS X (RIP Rhapsody), and when Mac OS X debuted, it was BSD all the way and has been ever since. Thanks to Apple, via Mac OS X, now macOS, BSD is now 1/3 of the consumer operating system base in North America. 😊 And when they’re tired of paying for overpriced hardware? They’re not going back to windows… as much as you may hate Apple… That’s a long-term win for *nix. |

Then I can get called out, proven wrong, open a discussion instead of being permabanned? I dunno.
Ah, you're a debate bro. ESH. |

Well, in the absence of a higher power, such consensus-based practices are just your opinion about how things should be. This mod has been behaving like this for at least a year to my knowledge. I just avoid them.
Did I give some indication that this was anything besides my opinion? |

Not all voters are going to be community members. Lemmy has a large Linux fanboy contingent. Do they get to decide what communities are or are not allowed to exist in the fediverse? Let's say that someone wants to make a community to post cute dog pictures. They create a rule that all posts must be photos of dogs. Someone comes along, does not read the rules, decides that a kitten is just as cu...
Sure. If people want dogs and cats together what's wrong with that? If you want to run a forum as your private fiefdom then go do it somewhere private. Or maybe you should just write a blog if you just want people to read your opinions. Putting your community on the fediverse or other public platforms is by definition inviting the userbase to interact with, create, and curate your community. At that point it's not your private creation anymore and it's unreasonable to treat it that way. |

I don’t know why admins allow troll communities to persist, when all they do is create more hassle for them. At least there aren’t very many of these. |

Your comment clearly broke their rules though. I don't agree with their rules but did you seriously expect a constructive dialog? You're being mad at the tennis club because they don't want to play golf with you.
Less tennis and more the anti-golf homeowners federation whose windows have gotten smashed in a couple times too much. |

I think you are missing the point about all/new. IMO this is more about the desires of the community members than the mod themselves. In the example above. The community only wants dog photos. The larger Lemmy community browsing all/new upvotes shouldn't override the rules of the community itself. On Lemmy, communities decide rules, not mods. |
