Hello people of the wonderful Lemmy community.

My old man spent a large portion of his life in Italy. He watched numerous movies back then.
I'm looking for some older Italian movie titles to watch together. I'm not looking for URLs, only movie titles!

Films I already got hold of are either Italian movies or often on the television or cinema back in the day (rough time frame of most movies 60s-80s):

  • Conclave. (this one is newer)
  • Per un pugno di dollari.
  • Per qualche dollaro in piu.
  • Il Buono, Il brutto, il Cattivo.
  • Guardie E Ladri
  • Squola di Ladri
    • Il Postino

Don Camillo:

  • Don Camillo
  • Don Camillo e 'l'onorevole Peppone
  • Don Camillo Monsignore... ma non troppo
  • Il compagno Don Camillo
  • Il ritorno di Don Camillo

Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill:

  • I Poliziotti dell'Ottava Strada.
  • Dio perdona... io no!
  • Lo chiamavano Trinita.
  • continuavo a chaimarolo Trinita.
  • Piu forte ragazzi!
  • Altrimenti ci arrabbiamo!
  • I due Superpiedi quasi piatti.
  • Pari e Dispari.
  • Io sto con gli ippopotami.
  • Chi trova un amico trova un tesoro.
  • Non c'e due senza quattro.
  • I poliziotti dell' strada

James Bond Series. (Due to the same time frame)

Bud Spencer also had a seperate thing going with the Piedone series.

After some hungarian duckduck-fu, and I found this:

La dolce vita

La ciociara

Le notti di Cabiria

Alright, this is a fun rabbit hole. So, we have a ton of Fellini movies, 8½ being one I actually heard of (and might even watch one day I have patience for subtitles again). That led me to Marcello Mastroianni, who has an extensive catalogue and seems to be a big thing (he's also familiar). You might as well look through Sophia Lauren's earlier works as well.

If newer ones are also in the run, I'd personally recommend La vita è bella, and just generally Roberto Benigni. His segment in Night on Earth is just laugh out loud spectacular.

If 90s are old enough for you, Mediterraneo and tre uomini e una gamba are the classics in my family
