Visiting Boston this weekend for a wedding. I've been to Massachusetts a few times, but I haven't ridden the T in decades. We were boarding, and just as I went to sit down, the train took off. I went full force into the guy sitting next to me. My wife grabbed me and yanked me back into my seat before I ate the floor.

Being the severe introvert I am, I was mortified. The kind of embarrassment that's going to keep me up at 2am for the next two decades. I apologized to the poor guy over and over. He never said a word. He just stood up and walked to the other end of the train car.

Meanwhile my wife and sisters were dying laughing. The couple next to them were laughing too. I was trying to disappear into my seat. They brought it up for the rest of the day, coming up with increasingly ridiculous versions of the story: me committing assault, driving an innocent man to flee to another train car, etc.

On the ride back, I made sure to either stay firmly in my seat or grip the handrail like my life depended on it.

If the man I landed on ever sees this: I'm truly sorry. It wasn't intentional, and it'll be a long time before I get back on the T.

TL;DR: Forgot the T takes off fast, face planted into a stranger trying to sit down, wife saved me from eating the floor, stranger silently relocated to another car, family has not let me live it down.
