The ability to understand the more parts in anything complicated gives you a huge advantage over someone who only sees one.

Yep. For some reason, I've never managed to even feign interest in sports. During high school, I used to participate in quizzes. The sole job of my partner was to handle the sports section. I always found it so utterly boring.

I only watch sports when my friends are having a watch party, and even then I mostly attend because there's beer.

Yes, but convincing those who cannot see that big picture of the truth in that is depressingly difficult.

Don't forget the momentary feelings of depression when you start looking into a niche thing and you get overwhelmed by a desire to consume all content and realize there is not enough time in your life to truly give it the attention it deserves. And this makes you feel like I'm a way you're betraying the countless creators who came before you because you.

it's called pareto crincipal. 20% of the effort brings you 80% to the finish.

I don't wanna spend years mastering one subject, I want to understand them well enough and then combine various subjects to one big understanding. how else can you make informed decisions?!

it happens pretty often that people are surprised about something were my ADHD brain just thinks: what did you expect, that was kinda obvious.

I like the Shakespeare quote that @MehBlah posted, sums it up well

This is why I had a break down in high school, when all the world was pressuring me to pick one, and only one, major to study in college, for two or four years straight.

I'm always picking up new interests and there's no way to tell at the start if the interest will last long. How on Earth am I expected to know if the thing I love now will still be something I want to study a year from now? How can I know something else more interesting won't pop up and dominate my curiosity more?

I just want to learn. New special interests are unpredictable, but even the ones that last a while take turns between other topics. Picking one path and dedicating years to it alone just doesn't work for me, and it's one thing I knew well about myself by the time I was a teenager.

I eventually went to college years later, in my 20s. Life circumstances forced me to relocate and I couldn't afford to continue that path. All's well, I've decided to stop pursuing what I'd been studying anyway. Surprise surprise. Now I do a job (that's all about helping neuro-diverse children) that didn't exist when I was a kid, so there was no way I could've known it was a thing I'd want to do at the time. It turns out that helping kids who were just like me may have been my calling all along.

The world rolls on, and so do I.

What are you digging about forks?

Forks are funny. They weren't the primary instrument for a long time. In renaissance times in Italy, they were considered to be used by only Italian dandies. To me that sounds like a 90s insult. If you use a fork, you're gay.

Spoons and chopsticks have otherwise been the primary utensils for forever, as far as history is concerned.

I personally love sports, but not watching. Unless it's something really crazy like Crashed Ice or something.

But disc golf, for instance, is great. I get to drill into the shapes of the different discs and their flight patterns coupled with how hard I throw or how windy it is or how hot or humid the air is. It's a wealth of information to lose oneself in. Snowboarding, mountain biking, surfing, kayaking, diving, martial arts, all fun stuff, all sorts of different things to learn and be interested in.

But mainstream sports? Nah, yeah, same thing. Those are pretty darn boring.
