Hi,
I'm looking for an RTS that my brother and me played in the 1990s. The problem is that I have almost no information on it because we hardly played it at all. If I remember correctly we never found out how exactly it worked. It was pre-3D, classic pseudo-isometric, future themed. The only thing that might distinguish it from other games of that sort is that you had to collect scrap from destroyed enemies to build new units.

Edit: I went through a list of ever single RTS of the 1990s to see if something sounded familiar: it was Akte Europa. It's very obscure and only saw release in Germany.

Good luck in finding your game!

For best results, please use the correct syntax and post layout if you haven't already.

This community is mainly for finding a specific game title. If you are looking for game suggestions, !videogamesuggestions@lemmy.zip is the place to be.

If you want to post, use this syntax in the title:
[Platform][Estimated Year] A short description of the game.
Example:
[NES][1980]A man jumping on mushrooms

If you're not sure about any of the details you can add [Unknown] instead.

This syntax and our template further down makes it easier to find your game, so please use it.

If your game is found, change the title by adding [Solved] in front of the title, and the game name. For example:
[Solved][NES][1980s] Super Mario Bros.

Try using this template in the body when posting:

Platform(s):
Genre:
Estimated year of release:
Graphics/art style:
Notable characters:
Notable gameplay mechanics:
Other details:

It’s 3d… but isometric-adjacent Metal Fatigue?

Had separate underground and space layers. It was a lot of fun at some LAN parties. +mechs

One of the Earth series? Earth 2140, Earth 2150 Trilogy, or Earth 2160?

No, it wasn't 3D

Sounds like Total Annihilation.

It kind of looks similar, especially with the blue-silver colour scheme of one faction. But I think I would remember the title and the box, since it's not an obscure game. I'm not quite sure, but I don't think it's it.

Edit: I have it in my library. If I can't say it after trying it out, there's no chance of finding the right game anyway.

Edit 2: No, it's definitely not Total Annihilation. It's a bit similar, but it was slower, fewer and bigger units and no 3D models

Only 2140 would fit graphics-wise, but as far as I can remember, the game had a rather clean look, not the rugged one this game is going for.

Delighted my community is mentioned in the bot! (For what it's worth, our rules point people to !tipofmyjoystick@retrolemmy.com)

That really does sound like total annihilation.

Please consider looking at Zero-k on gog.com, steam, or another fine repo. It's a fun game, very similar to its spiritual predecessor, and scrap plays a huge part.

Downvotes? TA and 0k are solid titles, man.
