Gunther bugged out near the end of our fight and ended up running into a corner of the cathedral basement, where he stood, silent and unmoving. He looked like what he was—an utterly beaten, broken man, who'd had everything taken away from him—and I couldn't bring myself to kill him.

Gunther will flee if he's below 20 health (out of 400) or if you kill a limb, and there aren't many places to hide down there lol

function bool ShouldFlee()
{
	// This may be overridden from subclasses
	if (MinHealth > 0)
	{
		if (Health <= MinHealth)
			return true;
		else if (HealthArmLeft <= 0)
			return true;
		else if (HealthArmRight <= 0)
			return true;
		else if (HealthLegLeft <= 0)
			return true;
		else if (HealthLegRight <= 0)
			return true;
		else
			return false;
	}
	else
		return false;
}

Also if you kill a character's arm(s) then they'll drop their weapon and be disarmed

function bool ShouldDropWeapon()
{
	if (((HealthArmLeft <= 0) || (HealthArmRight <= 0)) && (Health > 0))
		return true;
	else
		return false;
}
