Owners of abandoned or run-down commercial buildings in Edmonton – including some lots with pits abandoned during construction -- can be charged a higher tax rate after city council approved a new tax category for derelict commercial properties.

Next do derelict residential properties. Maybe some landlords will actually take care of the landscaping a bit if it saves them some tax money.
