Yeah I don't think this is what they meant by change the narrative on suicide.

That is a very unfortunate coincidence, but the actual point of the two events are worlds apart.

World Suicide Prevention Day should be focused on the mental health issues countless people struggle with, and the healthy coping mechanism and tools people need in order to see the countless paths available to them that don't involve suicide.

Assisted suicide focuses more on medical compassion and allowing those who are suffering immense pain with no hope of reprieve to maintain a modicum of control over their lives and leave when they are ready to, not when their body can physically no longer take the pain and suffering and gives out.
