Yes! If you are taking the “that’s how it’s written “ route all those super heros are causing the problem lol I thought it thru. However with someone like let’s say Spider-Man. Spider-Man is a boy with no money or societal power. No influences. He got superpowers and used those super powers for “good”. Still a vigalant but he’s doesn’t have a lot of options and people aren’t exactly thrilled ab...
Congrats on destroying all works of fiction I guess lmao "If we just get rid of the protagonist then the antagonist won't exist." is a fucking goofy take dude c'mon.
NGL that'd be fucking dope.
She also could have built 0 schools. That very much was an option. Feels like you're looking a gift horse in the mouth. I'd prefer the Carnegie Library strategy as well but shit any library is better then no library.
He started the foundation, not them. Even if his parents had started it, he's still stewarding it and (presumably) funding it and ensuring it accomplishes its mission. |

BUT it starts out saying it’s actually his parents foundations not his Here's a bit more thorough history of it: https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Wayne_Foundation Wasn't able to pull up if the Thomas and Martha Wayne foundations were explicitly founded by Bruce or his parents (As it doesn't need to be founded by them to have their names, could be founded in their honor), but considering the Wayne Fou...
Valid point . He may have started the foundation in his parents name. It’s doesn’t say that but it’s possible. I’ve never read the comics but in the movies his parents built the train and other public works. I think it was thier foundation not Batman’s but there’s no way I can be sure. I know the comics are very different. In the movies Bruce does the opposite of being a charitable. He has a persona of being a rich entitled jerk to hide the fact he’s Batman. The love interest even points that out with “it’s what you do that defines you” when he tries to explain it’s an act. I also hear in the comic he does more detective type stuff which is better than the movies where he just assumes the people he’s fighting are bad, which they are in the movies but he has no proof of that, he’s just assuming. It sounds like in the comics he’s far more responsible. Even so I think he should stick to the charity work. And Gotham is so bad that only a vigilante can save them and that vigalante just hands them over to an “open door” prison. If that’s really the best that can be done in that cursed city… level the city and leave. Fist fighting will never work because there’s a revolving door of evil. But then again one of my most controversial life views is often “blow the whole thing up” I say that for a lot lol. Like Israel/palenstien. It’s been constant war for thousands of years years. Christian crusades, Muslim crusades, Jewish war crimes. Fuck it. Blow the whole area up so no one can have it anymore. Evacuate it first obviously, then blow it up. Save a lot of lives that way. But I’m not a Batman, for good reason. I shouldn’t be in charge of those decisions and neither should Bruce. |

I don't know the Batman universe, so at first I thought this looked like dip, from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. But I checked and no, dip is much darker than this.

“Congrats on destroying all fiction” To be fair that was my rebuttals to an argument you had. I don’t think I fully understand that argument. I gathered you were saying “he’s a hero because he’s written to be a hero” in that case the villains only exist to fight him. Which still makes him the problem. But that’s not my argument really. I belive in the “death of the author” what the author intended is not how I’m required to view it. So my “then Batman is the cuase of villains” argument is supposed to be silly because I feel “ the author says Batman is the only hope” is also silly. But maybe I’m just not understanding that argument. Oh and by the way I know I use quotes around things you didn’t actually say. It’s weird but that’s not me trying to straw man you. That’s me saying “this is what I heard you say” so you can see if I’m missing something important. It can be irritating if you think I’m purposefully misquoting you. That’s not my intent. Either way o just want to take a second and thank you for the conversation. It’s very interesting even if I don’t fully agree with you. I’m having fun discussing this and you seem pretty intelligent. So thank you for that my friend. I still think Batman is irresponsible tho lol |

Police work in our world. Vigilante justice is bad in our world. That doesn't mean that you can't construct a universe where vigilante justice is better. As mentioned in the other comment thread, there are prisons in alternate dimensioms that prisoners still somehow escape. Moving the prison might be a bigger waste of money than batman. It's been shown in the comics that most public services th...
It’s a exaggerated reflection of our own world. And like our own world vigilantes don’t work. I only know the movies forgive me. The joker in that one Batman movie seems to have showed up with the specific intent to fight Batman. That’s what I mean about vigalante justice. In that movie, would joker have come to Gotham, rise to power, make deals with the gangs… would he have done that in the movies if Batman didn’t exist? Violence breeds violence. In this world and in written commentary about the world. When you say something along the lines of “it would be more expensive to move the prison than Han to just have a Batman” I can again point t out Bruce Wayne is a billionaire. He could move it doozens of times and still be insanely rich. At the very least you can concrete over the portal to hell like they did in Chernobyl. Look I don’t have all the answers to problems in Gotham or in our world. I don’t pretend to have all the answers. What I am saying is Bruce could hire the best experts in the world and hire guards to protect them. Instead he built a Batmobile. He is not qualified to fix these problems and he has other options because of his wealth. His parents that he respected did it the right way. He should have continued thier legacy instead of being a Batman. |

Btw your bill gates answer had me laughing. It would be rad as hell. But it wouldn’t be the best use of his skills. lol but yeah I’d respect bill a lot more if he did fight the mafia lol As for operah I also agree. More billionaires should do what Oprah did… I’m just saying it’s not the best use. But better than nothing yes. I think the joke that started all this actually came from the “behind the bastards” episode of Oprah. Robert Evan’s said the quote all this stared with. Funny guy. Let me try another example. Imagine I was a billionaire. I’m not. let’s say the bump my pay to the billions. As a billionaire every Saturday I walk to the beach and pick up trash. That’s good! But I could wrote a check for a million dollars and not even notice a dip in my bank account. I could hire hundreds of people to clean the beach. My time would be better spent running the charity that cleans the beach rather than me personally picking up trash. |

Luigi wasn’t a billionaire. He had no power or money to cause change in the world around him thru other means. Batman is obscenely wealthy and has plenty of options. Luigi is closer to the person who shot Batman’s parents than he is to Batman. In real life vigilante justice doesn’t solve problems. Luigi didn’t change the healthcare industry with his action. People loved it maybe, but it accompl...
As has been stated in many other comment threads on this post, he has options, and takes them all. He's doing as much as he can legitimately, to the point he even occasionally gets attacked for it, and only survives by using his batman skills. Within the scenario the comics/movies/shows create, that proves to be inadequate, so he batmans as an additional measure, not his primary measure. |

The city streets are crowded for the holiday. Even with the rain. Hidden in the chaos is the element, waiting to strike like snakes. And I'm there too. Watching. 2 years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal. I must choose my targets carefully. It's a big city. I can't be everywhere. But they don't know where I am. We have a signal now, for when I'm needed. - OSHA inspector explaining the whistleblower system |

He has enough to hire an army of sucurity guards to protect people like Harvey Dent. Instead he chooses to be a Batman. As Batman he couldn’t personally protect Harvey dent so he became evil. The joker did all that to “break Batman” and eliminate him. If Bruce Wayne hadn’t decided he personally needed to do all the crime control no harm would have come to Harvey dent in the movies. I don’t know the comics but if I did I could make the same arguments for all of it. The money spent on a batcave could’ve been spent protecting Harvey dent that Batman himself agreed was the only hope for change. Batman knew it was Harvey not Batman who would change things and instead of hiring a qualified security agency he decided to do a Batman and got Harvey and his girlfriend killed. That’s on him. There’s still |

This is just patently false. In The Dark Knight, Dent had already been targeted by criminals just for the work he'd done on his own, and the incident that led to The Joker identifying Batman was Bruce Wayne hosting a fundraiser for Dent to run for district attorney, which The Joker had intended to kidnap Dent from to start his turning-Harvey-Dent-evil plan. That was an event full of rich people that already included professional security that was thwarted by the criminals, and the only thing that stopped the kidnapping's success was that it was at Wayne's penthouse and attended by Wayne, who could quickly disappear into a batmanning room, put on his batman outfit, and intervene. When it was clear that the kidnapping would be unsuccessful, The Joker attempted to turn Dent evil in a rush by throwing Rachel out the window, and only identified Wayne as Batman later by checking who else she was close with. Batmanning significantly delayed the plot of the movie, and the outcome would have been the same without Batman, except for there wouldn't have been the silver lining that Dent was seen as a martyr for justice because Batman and Gordon covered up that he'd turned evil and gone on a killing spree. |

This is getting too hypothetical for me. The other comment chain made it clear that we can run circles doing hypotheticals until the universe ends. |
