Mobile cinemas first brought films to rural Cuba in the 1960s, when the revolutionary government sent trucks mounted with projectors across the island.

Today, Cuban documentary filmmaker Gloria Rolando Casamayor honors that tradition in Havana’s Colón neighborhood. Every weekend, she gathers her neighbors and sets up a portable projector for movie night, even when there is a blackout.
