Possibly related question: Are you one of those folks without a mind's eye? What's the space catholic term for it? aphantasia?

No, I have a mind's eye. If the recipe says "stir until the sauce reaches a creamy, glossy texture" I can picture it perfectly.

Only by being yourself you can find people who like you for who you are rather than who you pretend to be. Nobody can beat you at being you but you can only be the second best at pretending to be someone else.

I take that to mean that if you are weird then embrace it. That attracts other similarly weird people and those are the best kind. There's no point in being liked for being someone you're not so why pretend.

I would have no friends if those were the only kind of people I could find to talk to.

Cool. I'd rather have some friends than none. So I work with what's available.

Double Slit: The word "measure" or "observe" carries a lot if confusion when people talk about the double slit experiment, as if it wasn't one of the most important aspects in physics. Imagine that at first you're kicking a ball at a wall at random. Now you put a goalkeeper between you and the wall, he catches the ball and looks at it and then throws it at where he thinks it would have gone if ...

Thanks for the explanation! I probably still don’t understand, but are you saying that the methods that we have to measure particles (e.g. “off-ramps”) are changing the paths that the particles take? So in essence, it doesn’t sound like they are in two places at once.

Well, quantum mechanics and quantum computing in general are very complex, and there are big parts of the field that nobody understands. But double slit experiment is often depicted misleadingly made to seem a lot more magical than it is. The simplified explanation is that light moves as a wave and interacts like a particle. The experiment sends light through one photon at a time. If the light ...

I see so it’s not really that it’s in two places at once as much as it behaves one way when not measured and another when our measuring methods are applied?

I quote Richard Feynman, Nobel Prize winning physicist: There was a time when the newspapers said that only twelve men understood the theory of relativity. I do not believe there ever was such a time. There might have been a time when only one man did, (Einstein) because he was the only guy who caught on, before he wrote his paper. But after people read the paper a lot of people understood the ...

Haha thanks. Yeah it’s hard for me to understand something that I can’t relate to something else, but maybe because I’m too old. Kids just take things in as fact without questioning it. I should be more like a kid to understand some of this, but then again, kids don’t understand, they just accept the facts.
