More than one person has told me their class consciousness started with an Ant's Life.

"First rule of leadership, princess: everything is your fault!"

They came out close together and both featured ants as main protagonists. A Bug’s Life is the one pictured.

Antz was the "copycat" movie that was rushed out to beat A Bug's Life into the theaters. Back when animation studios even bothered with that shit.

They didn't have to. All the princess movies created a generation of entitled simping incel princesses that nobody every rose up for anything ever after. Oh, but they did get a pedophile rapist in as president, though. So that's that.

Hang on, he rapes paedophiles as well?! This guy, you just never fucking know what's next.

But the Disney World show was recently replaced with Zootopia.

Yeah, but that was recently. It was A Bugs Life when I was a child, and it only recently changed. I want to guess it lasted around 20y, but I can't be bothered to look it up. Anyway, it's not like they tried to bury it.

I don't understand. My comment wasn't meant to be an insult.

If I stuck a nerve, it wasn't intentional. I'm just fascinated by how the brain works.

"A Bug's Land" (stylized "a bug's land") was an area of Disney California Adventure themed after Pixar's 1998 film A Bug's Life. The land consisted of Flik's Fun Fair, which opened on October 7, 2002, and was set in a representation of the film's fictional universe with four rides targeted towards young children; Flik's Flyers, Francis' Ladybug Boogie, Tuck and Roll's Drive 'Em Buggies, and Hei...

Yeah seriously. A Bugs Life is generally considered one of the big Pixar classics. It was huge and it’s societal lasting was decades.

or perhaps their interest started there as a child, causing them to study further later? that doesn't sound like a crazy statement

I meant more so that learning about social issues from corporate children's entertainment might not be the highest-fidelity way to do that, and that combining the two names into one "story" means that it's like the lessons learned from "Disney-PIxar's Antz' Life" might be jumbled a bit.

Unfortunately, the conspiratorial crap is how you get dumb people in a political movement.
It's easier to see individuals as evil than a system putting the wrong people in power.

"Ants are not meant to serve grasshoppers. I've seen these ants do great things! And year after year, they manage to pick enough food for themselves, and you! So who's the weaker species? Ants don't serve grasshoppers! We're a lot stronger than you say we are. And you know it... don't you?"

It's also possible they were aware of both individual titles, and conflated them purposefully to elicit the response it got. Given the OCs responses to some of the comments, I'm inclined to lean into this explanation.

Which is also fascinating in its own right.

Give it a rest, nobody wants to ban words like stupid, moron, idiot, asshole, douchebag. No one, and you will harm us all in continuing to try.

You are also grasping at straws for a criticism here. You have nothing,

Yeah - and the movie is available for streaming on Disney+. You can still buy new DVDs and Blu-Rays. They are still selling merchandising for it. The most recent apperance of those characters was in a Disney videogame in 2024. This is a 28 year old movie that never got the cult status like toy story or lion king and that is exactly the thing you would expect.

Wonder if he'll make a comeback. Louis CK is putting out specials on nflix again...

He just pulls the "c'mon, I'm just a schlub" card and it somehow works.
