Give him Minix. The reason he started Linux was that he couldn't find a POSIX os that runs on x86 architecture

He knew about minix. The author of minix wouldn't make changes to it so that it could still be taught in a semester (or two? my memory fades) at university. NetBSD and FreeBSD weren't around yet, so Linus did the Linux.

Joke's on him, though. Minix went on to be arguably the most widely used Operating System ever
