Sounds like a reasonable idea in my opinion. I think this is something many businesses like (at least if i look at how much my employer locks down Edge) and it gives Mozilla another revenue option.

Nah you're right. Best to keep you on Chrome instead.

No, I want to keep my current Firefox as-is.

That really depends on their situation. Some companies lock down devices and computers pretty hard, blocking admin right completely, making it difficult to install anything you want. Monitoring software too, so even if they do install it they may flag it and automatically remove it or call them out on it for breaking IT policies.

My old employer locked down normal FF, one thing was an allow list of extensions. They did it using the profile settings JSON file in an admin only file, and normal users didn't have admin. Thankfully, UBO and dark reader were both allowed, but still. It was annoying trying to get extensions allowed, as I had to have a "valid business case" for it. And "I want to send gifs to coworkers on teams" was not accepted to get the giphy extension allowed.

I mean, annoying for technically competent users, sure, but I'm sure you can also see how forbidding arbitrary extensions is generally a good thing for managed environments, right?

This is good news. More funding without begging.

Sadly some Admins won't allow this, I have Firefox preinstalled, once they switch to the Enterprise version I won't get it back.

You can do that with standard Firefox.
