I'm looking for a reasonably priced domain registrar that complies with European regulations such as the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive (e.g. not making redacting personal data in RDAP/WHOIS a paid service) and who lets me pay and manage just a domain without being forced to pay for multiple extra services I don't want or need; preferably with a free SSL certificate included and DNSSEC. I'm currently at the US provider Porkbun which has a good service, but is sadly USA-based and does not fully comply with the GDPR.

I’m not sure if they’re available in your country / your language but I’m using inwx.de. The domains I wanted where cheapest on there compared to the other options I was looking at.

However, I don’t think they provide a SSL certificate. What I do (please tell me if this is stupid) is let Caddy pull a certificate from Let’s Encrypt and enter the necessary fields automatically into inwx over their API for a DNS challenge.

Letsencrypt is fine, but keep in mind that US sanctions could destroy it anytime. Even their rules state that they're not allowed to cooperate with individuals or organisations sanctioned by the US.

It's time to look for European alternatives there as well.

One alternative is ZeroSSL (which happens to be the owner of Caddy) but they only provide three certificates for free. Which is insufficient unless you use a Wildcard certificate.

Wrt the top comment: Also using inwx, they are the first vendor I've used to support Wero.
