I was curious about this and how it related to Gold’s Gym, which had a similar logo and became an iconic brand in the 1970s and 80s. My first thought was “did they totally rip off Gold’s Gym??” It turns out that the founder of Gold’s Gym sold the rights to the name in 1973, regretted it, and then created World Gym a couple years later. So no wonder it looks the same and also features Arnold Schwarzenegger! Wikipedia article about World Gym. |
