Should motorbikes and cars share lanes? How to deal with left turns (the dangerous ones) in junctions? Should motorbikes and bikes have to do two-step left turn?
There's an idea that we should categorize vehicles as human-poweres or not. Is this a good idea? How about paddle-assist-only ebikes? When there's not enough space for lanes, which type of vehicle get compromised? |

What if we put islands in the middle of the intersection and turned it into a roundabout. Lanes would be narrow so cars would have to slow down, and it eliminates the left turn problem and keeps bicycles from having to stop. |

Personally I'm pro "move the motor vehicles out of the center." Make cars loop around instead of cutting through. That way you avoid situations where people are on bikes are interacting with cars. |

Two levels of roads. Cars on the bottom and everything else on top. Probably better to do the opposite if you’re in a rainy place, but cheaper to maintain elevated roads for bikes and peds than cars and trucks. |

I'm a fan of the 3-tier system:
In the best case there is space for at least 1 lane of each. If not, then some compromise must be made. What to do should depend on the purpose of the road. Roads meant for long-distance travel prioritize cars, there is no real help there. Although I'd argue there should be a combined pedestrian+bike path alongside even inter-city roads. On city streets see if there are any parallel corridors that go roughly in the same direction. Then you can divide the traffic onto different streets. One street for 1+3, and the other for 1+2. Or course this only works if you have nearby parallel streets. The final option is combined low-speed zones where everyone shares the same space. It works great for neighborhood access, it's very inconvenient if you want to go a longer distance in car. |

Cars are miserable anywhere bikes and pedestrians are the normal speed. Ban cars from cities because it makes the cars happier. |

Micromobility will never be the norm. So it’s not a thing to be concerned about. |

What a dumb and ignorant comment. Micromobility already is the norm in many places around the world. So yes, the problem should be discussed and solutions found. Thankfully many places already have solutions. |

It isn’t THE NORM. It’s the exception to THE NORM. Learn the difference between these two things. |

As for the lights, in the Netherlands, when you get a green light, you go. It was surprising to me in other countries you awkwardly have to wait in the middle for oncoming traffic to pass first, who somehow get a green light at the same time. And if you can't squeeze in a road next to sidewalks and bike lines, maybe make it a one-way street instead? |

? In my neighborhood there are more bikes than cars, and in other cities like Montpellier, cars aren't even allowed to enter. Maybe you should learn that not every place is just like where you live.
NYC. Detroit, Chicago, LA, Boston…. These places would like you to know that they also exist. I’m sure your little neighborhood’s cute, but the aforementioned will eat it alive without gaining a pound. You’re not removing cars. |

Why are you being so absurdly condescending? At least learn to spell "without gaining a pound" first. And also, I live in Montréal, which is larger than half of those cities, but your point would be stupid regardles, beacuse, since you brought up NYC, only a quarter of new yorkers commute by car, a percentage which has been steadily dropping, because NYC is removing cars. |

I’m not gong to apologize for the enshitificarion of autocorrect and I don’t have enough respect for this discussion to bother going back over what I wrote to correct it. Secondly, I said a thing and got torn up by a bunch of asshoels. Yet you’re here to tell me I’m being condescending? LMAO! |

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. You literally listed cities that have massive transportation systems and an absolute fuckton of micromobility. You’re literally spewing shit out your ass and acting like it’s fact.
That’s not what that means. Holy shit you must be trolling or Russian. Get the fuck outta here. |

I mentioned those cities because in them- cars are THE NORM, kid. And they will be- THE NORM, for a long- LONG fucking time. Just because they happen to have alternatives, doesn’t mean those alternatives are- wait for it…. THE NORM- Which is what this entire fucking conversation is about. |

They literally aren’t haha. You didn’t even bother to look at the statistics you literally just made shit up. NYC only has like 20% car usage. You talk a lot of shit for someone that doesn’t seem to know anything about transportation. |

I wonder if it's the straight-or-right/left/stop pattern. I've only seen them on busy intersections, with the duration for left turn being ridiculously short. |

Hey dumbass: Staten Island: ~83% to 85% of households own a car; about 64% drive to work. Queens: ~62% to 63% of households own a car; about 38% drive to work Brooklyn: ~44% to 45% of households own a car. The Bronx: ~40% of households own a car. Manhattan: ~22% to 23% of households own a car; only about 7% to 8% drive to work.
HAHA. holy shit you literally had to go cherry pick the data to make it look like you researched it. Sadly I had already looked it all up before commenting. https://a816-dohbesp.nyc.gov/IndicatorPublic/data-explorer/walking-driving-and-cycling/?id=2415&MeasureID=1304&GeoType=NTA&TimePeriodID=287&overlay=table Good grief you can’t even troll properly. |

hAhAhaHaHAha! You think simply looking something up is cherry picking data? And when did I say I researched it, or even imply that it was even necessary? I simply loooed it up. It took 10 seconds to prove you wrong. Grow up kid. You’re desperate for whatever endorphins you can get from arguing with people online. I’m blocking you now. Go annoy someone else. |

For the ones that want the actual numbers (not cherry-picked bullshit) here you go! The only borough that has above 50% car usage is Staten Island. NYC as a whole is at 26.7% car usage. Queens has high car usage and yet Public transit is more than 10% higher. You can easily get this data from NYC's data portal. https://a816-dohbesp.nyc.gov/IndicatorPublic/data-explorer/walking-driving-and-cycling/?id=2415&MeasureID=1304&GeoType=NTA&TimePeriodID=287&overlay=table |
