Fast food should be the first thing you drop, it's honestly sad that these companies aren't dying out as their prices match actual restaurant price, for way worse quality (sometimes)

Yeah I mean once they match actual restaurant pricing I stopped going to them in favor of getting much better quality restaurant food instead when choosing to eat out. It’s the easy answer if your going to be spending that kind of cash either way.

Because the prices of those don’t go up? By your logic, people shouldn’t buy anything that costs more than it used to.

No, because it's always cheaper than eating out.

Tacobell makes zero sense. Like a Gordita Crunch is $6 by itself, but I can get a box with one, including a taco, burrito, and a side, with a drink for $7. The Gordita should be like $3-$4 at most. It used to be a double decker taco was like $1.99 and a normal taco was like $1.69, so why buy a taco.

I do NOT understand the boxes, but I appreciate them.

My local store even offers cheesy/sour cream potatoes as the side.

I can buy in bulk and make it a bit cheaper. But I'd have to make a week's worth, and I still can't quite nail their pita bread.

Do you purposefully misinterpret one comment and then do the same when someone answers your question?

People who don't have a lot of money tend also not to have time to cook delicious meals for themselves.

Fast food isn't cheap, I could go out and get 1 meal for 15 - 20$, or i could buy a bunch of lunch meats, rice, beans, and noodles and live off that for a week to 2.

Can be delicious, probably better than MickieD's, but damn do you u get a lot of it for your dollar.

I was very upset when they got rid of Verde sauce. But then they replaced it with a better one that has avocado in it so I stopped caring. Just wish they didn't charge 25¢ each for it...

You can buy the Verde sauce in grocery stores.

I've been keeping track of my own "Taco Bell Index" since tacos were 59¢.

Same but with the Dorito shell.

Bundling is a form of price discrimination.

What is there to misinterpret?

if you don't want Taco Bell charging that much then stop buying at that price. You are also voting with your wallet. I don't understand people complaining about how the prices of things are unacceptable while they demonstratively do accept them

The comment I am responding to states that inflation is caused by consumers’ choice to keep buying. Thus, if one doesn’t want food to be expensive, one should not buy food, problem solved. What am I misunderstanding? Can you explain how can I make food cheaper by not buying it?

Second question. What happens after I voted with my wallet and now taco bell is cheaper again? Can I buy it then? Or will that make it expensive again?

“First they took the Baja sauce away and I did nothing”

I was very unhappy when they discontinued Baja Gordita/Chalupa Supremes. They were the superior flavor.

While they pay their employees absolutely nothing. Where the hell is the money going, because it's certainly not going into quality ingredients.

Sit down restaurants might just be SysCo wrappers these days, though.

Jack in the Box's Munchie Meals also do this. Like a regular ultimate cheese burger combo is $15 now, but the boxed meal that comes with the same combo AND two tacos is only $12.

So Taco Bell has a monopoly on food, yeah?

Are we 3 levels deep of you doing this on purpose now, or are you serious?

For me, none of their grocery store sauces taste like they do on the items from the drive thru. I don't think they're the same sauces, honestly.

I’m serious that I find the comment extremely stupid. Like Taco Bell is the cheapest fucking trash that can be called fast food, and we’re pretending it’s people’s fault that it’s getting unaffordable? Is Taco Bell the new avocado toast?

My grocery bill for good, fresh food, nothing processed, is $80/week. Just over 10 bucks a day. That's for everything I eat in one week, except tap water.

We need voting snacks. Australia has a voting hotdog as well as pastries with goofy puns (it's also a holiday, but that's not the point I'm making rn).

If we want people to vote then we need to spike their blood sugar Every Time and make a goddamned tradition out of the thing. Give me a voting hot dog, a voting knish, a voting donut. I'd look forward to it every two years.

Good for you. Still, food prices, including groceries, increased by unusually large amounts multiple times in the past 5 years. I don’t think the only problem with food affordability is the lifestyle of people who are not you. You are kind of suggesting that only restaurants are expensive, and groceries aren’t, which is simply not true.

In 2020, food prices increased 3.4 percent, including prices for food at home (3.5-percent increase) and food away from home (3.4-percent increase).

In 2022, food prices increased by 9.9 percent, faster than in any year since 1979. Food-at-home prices increased by 11.4 percent. Food-away-from-home prices increased by 7.7 percent.

In 2023, food-at-home prices increased by 5.0 percent. Food-away-from-home prices increased by 7.1 percent.

Food-at-home prices increased by 1.2 percent in 2024 and 2.3 percent in 2025, lower than their historical average pace of growth (2.6 percent per year). Food-away-from-home prices rose by 4.1 percent in 2024 and 3.8 percent in 2025, still faster than their historical average (3.5 percent per year).

In 2026, prices for all food are forecast to increase 2.9 percent, with a forecast interval of 2.5 to 3.2 percent. Food-away-from-home prices are forecast to increase 3.5 percent, with a forecast interval of 3.3 to 3.8 percent. Food-at-home prices are forecast to increase 2.4 percent, with a forecast interval of 1.8 to 3.0 percent.

People get so triggered when you don't do things like waste money on chips and soda or other nutritionally void items. Yet that's where so many American's grocery bills are bloated
