It makes me sad a cultural symbol representing the sun/solar energy directed inward/outward was so publicly appropriated by fascists that the people and traditions to whom it holds deep meaning have to think twice about using it appropriately, based on how much mental, emotional, physical work it may be to defend and explain how it's used in their culture/traditions. It's not only appropriation of the symbol, but also of cultural and personal identity. Metal mental and emotional colonization begin and end long after physical colonization.
