I mean sure, but they still didn't get proper authorization, likely because it comes with environmental assessments, and interventions which could very well include wolf relocation.
You'd have to relocate the entire ecosystem. the wolves were there because the food was there. the food was there because the trees where there. If you relocate the wolves to where their food isn't, you're just starving a bunch of wolves in a different location. |

Wtf? People should be in jail over this
What do you mean? Jail is for criminals - you know, the people who get in the way of the wealthy trying to get more wealth. |

Carcass means already dead, right? I feel like all involved decision makers should be felled like trees. And I don’t mean “one cut”. If you've seen how trees are felled, you know what I mean.
A corpse or cadaver is a dead human. A carcass is a dead non-human animal. Dor the trees, I think you mean clear-cutting. And I agree. |

Lumberjacks harvest the wood. This is just going to rot in a pile or end up in a landfill. |

That's why there's a lot of research and thought put into where wolves (or any other predator) are released. Often it's a location where they lived historically but were hunted out. The better solution of course would be to tell Google to shove their data centers, especially with their lawless unaccountable behavior. |

That's so fucked up. Those poor babies. Wolves are majestic creatures. Why can't humans just let them be? |

Let's restrain bad development, of course, but also ; do put this in perspective : That's about 2 square miles or 5 (km)² and would be enough to sustain maybe a couple of wolves ... right ?
There aren’t that many wolves left. |

Feed 'em to the wolves.
Here in Sweden we're eradicating our wolves. Please don't feed the Finnish wolves garbage, we need them to save our population. |

Many habitats are completely fucked because of climate change though. For example, coral reefs likely will not survive except in isolated pockets. And because coral is a keystone species, all of the life that depends on them is also likely fucked. Life in general will continue, but we are already well down the path of drastically reducing the planet’s biodiversity.
We have been on the path of decreasing biodiversity since Neolithic times. Humans are really good at taming the Earth and killing anything that moves. |

We have been on the path of decreasing biodiversity since Neolithic times. Humans are really good at taming the Earth and killing anything that moves. The most recent episode of the podcast Past Lives interviewing Kyle Harper goes into detail about this if you are interested.
Is this supposed to be apologia for climate change or is it just a not-so-fun fact? In any case, the rate of extinction has increased exponentially since the industrial revolution. Prior extinction rates don't even register in comparison to now. |

I mean, jail is one option, but the hungry wolves are right there.
I suppose that would be more cost effective and serve as reparations to the wolves themselves |

I am so glad I never procreated. I wonder, if there is an AI calamity that kills off humanity, how long it will take the earth to heal all the shit we've done to it?
There's a lot of evidence that the earth could recover from some of what we've wrought pretty quickly. It seems like no help is coming, but maybe there are a lot of us out here who have been forced to wake up to the notion that ecoterrorism is the best course of action. |

One of those wolves is worth far more than another concrete slab that will never get turned into a data centre. |

i do believe we should protect the environment that we destroyed in part unfortunately. Now, it is futile to concentrate on small challenges and i do believe this one with one or two wolves and a tiny piece of land is blown out of proportion and it's a waste of our time, attention and energy to concentrate on such small things. i cannot make any study and didn't read anything about it but i bet that the largest problems for the environment right now is war (s) in particular that one from russia against Ukraine supported by a fascist USA in part steered by disinformation from russia and china. That being said, i completely agree with you about one wolf being more valuable than useless concrete slabs that are in fact a waste of resources and energy ... of course. |
