Trump's approach is definitely corrupt and yet another of the hundred reasons he should be in jail.

But... recent years have seen other flawed democracies where unknown candidates with no previous track record in politics and no party affiliation but who just so happen to have the same name as a major party's candidate show up. There clearly needs to be something in place to mitigate these shenanigans, but it seems more like a fix that's needed in the ballot design, rather than the insanity that Trump's pushing.

you're ignoring pretty much all of what I already made my best effort to communicate and this doesn't feel productive or fun. I literally addressed every point you made; meanwhile you ignore everything I said and merely go on the attack, and you accuse me of arguing in bad faith? Literally everyone who has responded to you has told you that you clearly misread the original comment, and you refu...

Can you just leave me alone? Or at least like, quit wielding minority identities as a weapon? I did try to talk around that even though it's kinda fucked up, but now you're going full tribunal talking about I'm "dodging the question". I don't want to engage on that level at all but can't help stating I very much know what life is like for "queer people in right wing areas" and there is no fuckin way you've ever spent a single week actually on the street homeless. Said night first but you never know, the fuck ever that has to do with whether the third party you're so confident speaking for was calling the American government or the American left the real bootlickers in a post about election interference. Talking about "no horse in this race" out here chasing me around on a goddamn horse, coming at me about "vulnerable minorities" and trying to other me at the same damn time, literally confrontational over even the idea that posting can be fun of all things. You fuckin suck and I'm fuckin cold. Genuinely the worst interaction I have had on here to date

You're not fucking serious. From the start you went on the attack, I came to the defense of somebody I don't even know because you were being unreasonable. And then you start attacking me, deflecting all my attempts at reasoning with you, and then accusing me of being callous towards minorities because I had the gall to remind you that some people are in extremely vulnerable situations right now so maybe you shouldn't be going around shaming people for leaving the country when you don't know a thing about their background? And you say I'm wielding them as a weapon?

If you actually knew a gotdamn thing about what it's like to be queer in a right-wing area then you wouldn't be claiming that willpower alone is enough to build solidarity while also claiming that having a supportive community is somehow not a privilege.

Everything you've said has been deflection and blame, you've offered nothing of substance besides your heartfelt desire to be a martyr and pull everyone down with you. Stop romanticizing victimhood. It fucking sucks, and if you had any real empathy you would understand that. Let people do what they need to to survive, and if that means getting to safety before it's too late then let them do so without lumping shame on them for not being fools.

If you're not having fun then stop replying, nothing is compelling you to do so. Your account is one fucking day old, so calling this "your worst interaction to date" doesn't mean shit. Try not being an asshole and then crying foul when somebody calls you out on your shit.

The original commenter was not calling "the american left" bootlickers, as was obvious from their comment, as everyone else here easily recognized. And the fact that you're still digging in about that tells me you're being disingenuous, you came here to start shit, and this whole fucking conversation has been a waste of time because you're a troll and I just need to stop feeding you.

He's a one day old account who has to be deliberately misreading the original comment at this point, as multiple people have pointed it out to him and he just keeps doubling down on some gish gallop of sealioning, strawmen, and ad hominems. I tried engaging with him rationally and then he just turns around and starts projecting and accusing me of all the bad faith shit he's doing. He's a fuckin...

What's the problem? The other Dan Sullivan isn't even allowed to run in the same party.

So the ballot will have Dan Sullivan with an R next to his name and him marked as the encumbent and the other Dan Sullivan having an I for indepent. If the voters can't figure that out, I don't know what to tell you...

I think you're letting what you want to be true override what you deep down know to actually be the case. But I guess I should know by now not to attempt injecting reality into an old fashioned partisan pile-on thread.

No, no. You don't understand. Ranked choice voting is Dumb! And confusing! /S So say the advertisements I have been subjected to for the last 4 months. (Some morons are trying to repeat it, again, and their advertising campaign is LITERALLY that it is "dumb, dumb, dumb" They did a nice job labeling the different Dans. I early voted, and apparently, I am not Dumb, Dumb, Dumb, because I am 100% c...

Honestly, I'm pretty sure most R voters are just looking for the letter next to the name and not the name itself these days

It makes me want to look up some the attack ads to see how they differentiate. Like they can’t just “Dan Sullivan is piece of shit” lol

This is totally tinfoil-hat, but I could actually see the republicans having this guy run independent so they can get the precedent they need to reject certification of elections. 'A plant to siphon votes' is probably something the GOP would actually do atp to fuck with elections and we know how much they love projection. Ok tin-foil hat off, there's zero evidence for that and maybe it really is just a coincidence, I honestly don't have much information on the issue. And that's probably giving them way too much credit anyway.

I dunno. I think you want to make efforts to get at what the voters actually want, and that means making some allowances for voters being, y'know, fallible humans.

Have a look at the "butterfly ballot" used in Florida in the in 2000 presidential election:

Butterfly Ballot for the 2000 Florida presidential election

Now, it's pretty clear to me, looking at that, that the top hole is a vote for George W Bush, the hole below that is a vote for Pat Buchanan, and the hole below that is a vote for Al Gore. But it's also obvious to me how a voter could think that the second hole is for Gore, as the listing on the left side of the ballot has Gore listed just below Bush. I wouldn't make that mistake here, but it's plausible to me that people would. And indeed, people did. Buchanan got a LOT more votes than his polling would lead you to expect; and while this was still a small number of overall voters, it was more voters than the margin in multiple counties, including Miami-Dade. And Florida had enough electors, and the national election was close enough, that how Florida went decided how the whole country went. That is, these few people (less than 2000) making this mistake may have been a deciding factor in the national election of George W. Bush.

So while, yes, it's the vote they cast, and if they can't handle something as simple as voting then maybe that's on them... it's not like it doesn't matter. We should want the outcome of the election to reflect the will of the voters, and so it makes sense to make some effort to make it easy for them to vote for the person they actually want.

Elections aren't usually close enough for this kind of thing to matter. But it sucks when it does.

India, many cases: https://factly.in/analysis-do-dummy-candidates-with-similar-names-affect-election-results/

Russia, because of course: https://news.sky.com/story/russia-opposition-politician-boris-vishnevsky-says-two-lookalikes-with-same-name-as-him-running-in-st-petersburg-election-in-bid-to-confuse-voters-12402116

that's just the first two that came up on a web search, I'm sure I could find others on the second page of results

...and to those who claim that US voters are too smart to get tricked by ghost candidates, this guy got 6,000 votes in Florida - enough to tip the win to the Republican candidate - despite not running any kind of campaign: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/frank-artiles-ileana-garcia-florida-election-b1820020.html

You seem to have an awful lot of faith in the law of a country that has a pedophile felon president.

It's a country that thinks a fair federal election is the responsibility of individual states. I don't care about the history, I don't care about the importance of "states rights", it's untenable. I don't even consider this an opinion, it's logical idiocy.

Not an expert, but my understanding was you set the power of a radioactive burst so it has enough penetration to damage little on the way in, and ionize the tumor as much as possible.

Unfortunately too lazy to research further, many apologies

There are no explosions involved, unless we want to count stuff happening on the nuclear scale, at which point everything kind of constantly explodes.
