Then you have to race all the way back with the new password before it times out and becomes invalid or you have to start completely over. |

Thy, not thine. Same rule as a/an: the first one is used before a consonant sound, and the other one before a vowel sound. |

Wasn't thy/thine also the informal form of you? |

No, you're thinking of thou (subjective case) and thee (objective case). |

And "thy"/"thine" is the possessive form of "thou". |

Source? If my Old English courses and far too many years of Shakespeare reading are anything to go by, "Thy" and "thine" are the equivalents of "your" and "yours", respectively. The way you describe it makes no sense whatever, especially with the idiom "to thee and thine", which is the equivalent of "to you and yours". You are correct that it should be "thy", but for precisely the wrong reason. |

That's partially correct. The second part, that thineis equivalent to yours, is correct. But the equivalent to your is either thy or thine, depending on whether it's followed by a consonant or vowel sound, respectively. BTW, my and mine used to work exactly the same way. For example: โMine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.โ A Web search should turn up many sources for this information. |

Ah, yes! Okay, thank you for your elucidation! I thought you were saying that thine is only used in the case you mentioned. |
