We continue only caring about how long someone has been in office... It only matters because people act like it does. Committe chairs are only given to senior members because that's who they're given to. Fuck all the bullshit norms we operated with under neoliberals. We can just ignore those old fucks, and that's likely what's gonna happen. |

Progressive Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) wrote on social media late Friday that Democrats should force Trump to veto a litany of progressive policies from Medicare for All to blocking aid and bombs to Israel to taxing billionaires. "Make him veto Medicare for All," he advised.
Groundwork CEO Lindsay Owens called Schatz's strategy "worrisome" on Saturday. "Trump vetoing bills to make healthcare cheaper is a good political outcome for Dems," she wrote on social media, arguing that it would increase the likelihood of a Democratic victory in 2028. |

Schatz, you ignorant slut [old people will get this reference]. You don't think it's time? Why do you think anyone would even vote for Democrats in 2028 if they roll over and piss themselves like whipped puppies in 2027? JFC will Dems ever show some fucking courage?! Do you have any idea what the assignment is for gods sake?!. Thank you Rep. Khanna and those few other Dems who get it, and please may enough other actual progressives get elected this cycle to join you and do something for a change. Show us you're willing to pass legislation that actually helps people and they will vote for you. Act like Schitz and you're out. |

You know how I know we’re not getting Medicare for all? Because a bunch of very wealthy corporatists are entrenched in our political system to the point that it’s unfathomable that anything could ever happen that is actually good for we, the people, if it is not profitable for them. |

I love the Democratic party. The strongest position we have in it is "let's make the Republicans look bad". Like, holy fuck, talk about how you're going to override the veto, talk about how you're going to first pressure Republicans in purple seats to side with you on universally hated things like datacenters; to show that a 2/3rds vote is possible with pressure from the population. Talk about how you ARE going to pass Medicare for all by pressuring Republicans about to be purged from office in 2028 to "walk out" and not be present for the veto override voting. (The 2/3rds is based on members that are present, not actual house or Senate capacity). Hell, point the stroke gun at some old fucks not voting with you. Show some fucking balls. Like, holy fuck, the "best" position right now is "we're gonna fail, but we're gonna make Trump look bad". Fucking hell dude. We are at the absolute floor. No one left in this country that likes Trump is changing their opinion when he vetos Medicare for all. It's a fucking cult. Stop trying to make the cult leader look bad to the 20-30% of Americans in the cult. Stop treating your Ls like wins. We don't need "philosophical victories". We need material change through legislation and a democratic party thats going to fight through every method possible. I swear; when the Dems win in a massive wave, they will spend the next two years passing legislation they know will be vetoed and then talking about how important 2028 is. Will win massively in 2028, and then literally follow the Obama playbook post Bush. No trials for war crimes, no arrest of ICE murderers, and another "we tortured some folks" reflection of how we need to "move on". And then pass some more useless neoliberal Reagan like reforms that just lead people to get frustrated and vote for the next fascist in 2032 or 2036. Can we stop this cycle? This party is a fucking op. Even are "best" are fucking useless. |

I'm sure the president would veto such a bill, but it doesn't really matter, since no such thing will ever be proposed by either party. |

He will proudly veto Medicare for All. I mean, try to pass it regardless. Let’s make him veto an onslaught of bills that aim to expose the Epstein client list, and force the DOJ to investigate in such a manner that congress is apprised of their progress. Make him defend vetoing investigating, prosecuting, and convicting billionaire pedophiles and sex traffickers. Make him defend it all. This should be day one. Have legislation at the ready to introduce on day one to force him to defend pedophilia. Make a concerted, focused effort on this. Healthcare, affordability are very important, but can wait to be grandstanded. Control the messaging, the narrative, make it dominate the new cycle until there is enough support to overcome the veto. It can be done. But it will take courage of conviction, which I know is asking a LOT of establishment dems. I don’t give a fuck who is swept up in this; If they are on the lists, they need to be investigated. |

I agree. Make him veto everything, and then run against it in 2028. But don't do that INSTEAD of investigations. Investigations have to be the priority. The Dems will never get anything done with treasonous opposition to EVERYTHING. We have to do BOTH - investigate, and pass DemSoc legislation. |

It would be great, but they won't get enough majority to pass it, even supermajority may not be enough, but, yes, we should have had that decades ago. |

Because it lets the Republicans set the agenda. |

No one has to let them do anything. They have all the power. They're going to do it regardless of whether Dems "let them" or not. Dems need to focus their energy somewhere that it can actually make a difference. E: for clarity. |

I'm not sure I understand who you're talking about. The original premise was that if the Dems win the House and Senate in the midterms, and then fail to propose legislation because Trump would veto it that they would then be rolling over and pissing themselves like whipped puppies in 2027. You then asked why it would mean they would be rolling over and pissing themselves like whipped puppies in that scenario. I explained that it would be because they were letting the Republicans set the agenda. Then in your most recent reply, it appears to me that you're saying the Republicans would have all the power. Is that what you're saying? Because that doesn't make sense to me. If the Dems win the House and Senate, how do the Republicans have all the power? |

It's very important to demonstrate your party's values by introducing and passing bills that reflect those values so that you have a record of where you stand that people can see, regardless of whether those bills get vetoed or not. Saying you should wait until you have full power, or assuming they are "guaranteed to fail" is self-fulfilling prophecy and is capitulating in advance.

Exactly. The only option he has is the veto. That's no reason to let him decide the agenda. Make him veto popular initiatives. Make him prove over and over that he hates the American people. Force the Republicans in Congress to either side with the people to override the veto or admit that they care more about President Pedo than their own constituents. Then use the vetos and votes to beat them in the next election. However, that probably won't happen. The Dems will roll over and piss themselves like whipped puppies. Because otherwise it would require that establishment Dems turn on the people they work for (billionaires and Israel) in order to support the people who voted for them. |

This is not a "capitulation" or an "assumption", this is a fact.
It demonstrates nothing. They can vote whatever they want, knowing full well it will fail, and is nothing more than a symbolic gesture. They could do the same with a simple statement.
What Republicans do you think want any of these passed? Everyone knows what their priorities are.
Except they won't pass anything , because they'll be vetoed. |

If you do not have the power to do anything, you cannot "let" anyone do it. Just as I can't "let" you drive too fast in your car, or stab a random person on the street.
...why?
He already has. There's nothing he could possibly do to make that more clear. Sure as shit not a veto .
That's completely unnecessary. Anyone who doesn't know where they stand on these basic foundational issues sure as shit won't know if they veto them. |
