No. Mostly because the majority of people don’t care to fix it in themselves. The majority of people do not want to think much.

And not to get political, but I've seen a pattern of how the right often demonises many genres of books (even vowing to campaign about book burning), but also never encourage anyone to read, instead they implicitly glorify short form video and brainrot. For all the issues the left has, reading isn't one of them, and in numerous areas of leftist politics reading theory is seriously encouraged an...

When Trump was first president my bil got books for Christmas. Now keep in mind this is a guy that was like 21 years old. He freaked out. “What am I supposed to do with books?” “Read them!” “No. I don’t read.”

Yes he was a right winger.

You can improve your attention span. It just takes putting effort into it. Some things that will help: Stop watching short-form content. Ban yourself from Instagram, Tiktok, and Shorts/Reels on any site. Drop off social media as much as possible - check it once a day, for a max of 15 minutes. Start reading a book for at least 1 hour at least 3 times a week. Read at least one non-fiction book fo...

I've done all of these things. But damnit step 4 is the hardest one. I have been trying to finish this book on Chinggis Khan but in struggling.

Everything on this list is great advice, but non fiction books make me want to kill myself. I've found one tolerable non fiction. God help me if I ever have to read a biography or self help book again.

I usually feel the same. A few notable exceptions I have found:

Check out Bill Brysons books, they're great and funny! You could start with A Short History Of Nearly Everything.

Forgot that on ny short list but I did have Mother Tongue.

Muscle atrophy can be fixed with slow consistent effort. The brain in many ways acts similar to a muscle. Brain rot is simply having offloaded too much thinking capacity, you need to build it back up. Not easy though

May I recommend some David Graeber. He was a leftist and anthropologist who had a way with words

You aren't obligated to finish every book you start. It's okay to rage-quit in the middle sometimes. Some books are just written terribly or the subject just isn't as interesting as we first thought. You can always come back to it later or try someone else's take on the subject.

I've never rage quit a non fiction book, I just get bored. I have quit reading a bunch of non-fiction though.
