Yikes, the guy looks like a drug junkie in his photos, I'm guessing he has bigger problems than alcoholism |

Right, but BAC alone isn't enough to judge impairment. Tolerance is a very real thing.
No it's not though. You may not feel the buzz that you are chasing, but the actual impairment is still real and in place. You may think you're fine, but your not. That's one. And two, once you've had 3, your more likely to have more. And if your willing to drive with 3 when you're sober, you're Likely to drive with 6 when you're drunk. Every drunk driver who ever got behind the wheel thought they were fine. Even the ones who had accidents. |

When I was struggling with alcoholism, I hit a low point and ended up having to move back in with my parents. They made me start taking that, "antabuse" stuff. It, uh, didn't work. I'd continue drinking with it, and the only thing that would happen is I would break out in giant red splotches. Never got sick from it. Didn't do a damn thing. What DID help, was living in a safe space with my wife,...
I’m just some random on the internet, but I’m proud you kicked the habit! well done! |

Seems like most children who get sucked into the tv/movie industry end up completely insane nightmares later in life, assuming they live long which a lot of them traditionally have not.
They get exposed to Hollywood’s party/drug culture very early, that’s for sure. But I think the home environment is the most critical factor. If you’ve got psycho parents who are trying to live vicariously through you or simply see you as a cash cow, they’re going to fuck you up way more than Hollywood can. Also, there’s something to be said for the psychological impact of becoming successful, having your “15 minutes of fame,” and then fading into obscurity. That’s got to mess with your self-esteem big time. |

I don't think you understand what drug tolerance is. |

in Europe people are vehemently against you driving after any amount of alcohol at all. even a half pint of 3% beer.
Europe also has public transit nearly everywhere, so there are actual alternatives. |

No, I think you don't. Even in people with high tolerance, low levels of alcohol still impare motor skills, reaction time and inhibitions. |

Honestly, zero. I've always said first drunk driving offense should be immediate, permanent revocation of license. First offense. Zero tolerance. It's bad enough to deal with regular mistakes and texters. DUI offenses are treated so casually it's actually a meme. Maybe after a very strict re-training. And signing something acknowledging EXTREME consequences if they get caught again. And none of...
Extreme penalties like that cause other problems. We should be focusing on rehabilitation, not revenge. We should also focus on making life less car dependent. In a LOT of areas, a vehicle is the only way to have a decent job. If you take that away for a single infraction, you're dooming a lot of people to a low standard of living. |

from the article: “Court docs show Bryan also admitted to having two prior DUI convictions, putting him in even hotter water. If he ever gets hit with a fourth, the penalties only get harsher.” There is the problem right there. How many chances do those with DUI charges deserve? It’s just more passes for them to seriously hurt or kill someone.

A drug tolerance is when your body builds up a resistance to a substance to the point where more is required to produce the same effect. This includes side effects like impairment. |

(I live in one of those areas, so I know. It has some public transportation, but it doesn't go through residential areas, so you can only get between business areas, and a little bit of downtown.) In a perfect world, that alone would solidify the push to be less car dependent, but we can't even rise above Nazis, so that's not happening before there's another digit on the year number. Driving is clearly better left to professionals, generally speaking. I wish it was all buses driven by people with excellent teaching and capability, but getting that kind of fleet up and running would take a lot of time. Driving would be a huge job market suddenly. And danger would plummet. No one would need to outrun anyone, or need a nap, or be distracted. You could have a fairly low age of oldest driver as well. But for now, FAFO. |
