Phạm Tuân is honestly one of the most underrated figures in Cold War history — the combination of being a combat pilot who downed a B-52 and then becoming a cosmonaut is almost too cinematic to believe. I ended up deep-diving on him after Historical Info sent a notification about the Soyuz 37 mission date last year. The way the Vietnam War and the space race converge in this one person's life is genuinely extraordinary.
