At least three vehicles show to have been involved in what appears to be a crash.

Officers with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Memphis Police Department are present at the scene.

THP and TWRA were at the center of the investigation. Those agencies are just two of the 13 agencies in Memphis that are a part of the Memphis Safe Task Force.

A woman on the scene told Action News 5 crew she is just glad her son is alive after a law enforcement agency’s vehicle rolled on top of her son’s car as he sat at the intersection waiting for the light.

She said the same suspected law enforcement vehicle also hit another car before overturning onto her son’s car.

THP and TWRA officers were on the scene, grabbing items out of the vehicle that was overturned—items that looked similar to THP gear.

This happened just a few hours after White House officials spoke to law enforcement about the new task force.

“Every resource we have—federal, state, and local—we are going to use to dismantle their networks, without apology and without mercy. With everything we have, we are going to bulldoze the criminal element in this city,” said Stephen Miller, President Donald Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Miller said they were glad to be in Memphis, but they are sending a message to criminals:

“We are going to send the message that this city belongs to people who follow the law and obey the rules, and they are not going to live one more day in fear of criminals,” said Miller.

The Memphis Police Department confirmed officers are solely assisting with traffic control at Wednesday night’s scene and referred Action News 5 to THP.
