My mum uses the small knives and forks. It's like trying to eat your meal with a kiddie set.

I'm a big fan of long handled teaspoons.

They're called sundae spoons! I love them too.

Imagine being the first homo sapien to pat a wolf? There is a human, long deceased and who's name is lost to time, who got to be the first to pat a dog.

The movie Alpha covers this, sort of. It's fiction, nice caveman dog fiction. Not a deep film but nice.

After hearing so much anticipation about the upcoming movie, I'm currently at chapter 4 of Project Hail Mary (Audiobook). I am not disappointed.

I'm up to chapter 8 and really enjoying it! It's been so easy to apply Ryan Gosling's voice to the main character.

Oh gosh the body is SORE. Did a Pilates core workout that really hit me when I got up to pee at 4am. Had to do today's squats in small chunks, but got them done in between a trip out to the Yarra Valley for cheese and wine.

Kmart has a range of glass containers that I quite like. The lids are weird with a little pop up button and you CAN'T open the container until you pop up the button. Found that out the hard way.

These ones? https://www.kmart.com.au/product/500ml-square-ribbed-glass-container-43507399/

Thatโ€™s horrific. But I really really really donโ€™t agree with the explanation for murder being because someone was banned from social media or didnโ€™t play outside enough, so of course theyโ€™re gonna go murdering?! Youโ€™re right about one thing though, these kids are growing up in families where no one cares about them. The parents are disinterested in what the kid is doing socially, where they are...

I don't mean there's a direct link between the social media ban and attacks like these, more that so much effort is spent legislating kids out of public life instead of finding ways to engage with them

Glass more practical if you plan to microwave straight in the container. Stainless is lighter and wonโ€™t break if you drop it. Dilemmas!

Mostly looking to reduce the plastic touching food pathway. I currently microwave in a bowl with a plate on it. But my tubs are showing some wear.

Oh yeah they've got a lot of different names.

My favourite hack for them is to cut the top off the Kewpie mayo bottle and scoop the dregs out.

I've known them as parfait spoons. Since long before I knew what parfait was.

I have a full set of eight long-handled teaspoons which are very well used, and also use lots of standard teaspoons, I've got a couple of cutlery sets worth in the drawer and don't plan to part with any of them.

My mother probably should have gone that route, seeing she moved to using small plates instead of proper dinner plates. It drives me batty. You don't need to fill the entire plate with food, but having a larger plate gives you room to do things like cut your meat without accidentally knocking it off the side.

Bit late this morning, but could I please have everything that's bad for me. There's too much helth around rn, and this needs to be balanced out. And a balanced diet is good, no?

The new cutlery set I ordered has two sizes of knives and forks. Perfect for those multi-course dinners we all sit down to every night. It has made me wonder whether anyone these days actually uses/wants multiple cutlery sizes or if it's completely outdated outside of formal restaurants etc.? Mostly it just brings to mind my mother's constant explaining to anyone that went near her cutlery draw...

My cutlery set has bigs and smalls and I donโ€™t really use the smalls. I think cutlery sets should come with fork, knife, spoon, teaspoon. Optional extras are cake fork and long teaspoon/sundae spoon/parfait spoon.

so if tau ceti is 13 light years away , it takes HM 4 years to get there and only just over 2 years for the beatles to get back, it's still 13 years Earth time for the HM and 13 for the beatles , regardless of how fast they go, because each is measuring time and distance differently and velocity is not additive

Yes. Mine are not square but rectangular and have green not blue silicone, and plain glass not ribbed glass walls.

Big knives & forks for eating dinner, smaller knife for buttering bread, smaller forks for dessert along with spooons was what I was taught as a kid. So the table setting would be big knife/fork at each side of the big plate, with the smaller knife next to the big knife on the outside OR resting on the side plate, and the smaller fork & spoon at the top of the big plate space. Soup spoon goes outside the big knife as it will be used first. Gets more complicated if there's going to be a fish course, so the fish knife & fork (which have a special shape) go inside the big knife & fork on each side of the plate. Basically you work from the outside in, except for the bread buttering knife and the dessert fork/spoon. You can put the dessert fork/spoon inside the fish knife/fork if you prefer and have enough tableroom. Note, the bread buttering smaller knife should NOT be serrated as you don't cut anything with it. The big knife can be if you like that style.

I have a two size set and prefer to use the smalls just for hand size. I don't host the sort of do where both would be on the table at once. More likely fingers or chopsticks. Except for Boyo, I've given up on sticks for him.

Yep. That seems right. Everyone has their own rulers and clocks. It's all consistent within the observers frame. The paradox only happens when you try to reconcile between the two.

I studied relativity - it was my favourite (general relativity even more!)

I think there needs to be both soup spoons and desert spoons. I don't really understand why soup works better out of a round spoon and more solid things work better with oval, but it does.

The set I'm getting had a version with just the pieces I want for 6 place settings, but I found an 8 place set with the extra knives & forks being sold on clearance for cheaper than the small set.

Ouch! I did my extremely slow and gentle squats after a trip to IKEA with the kids. I've been looking into equipment-free exercises for toning and improving my shape without trashing my joints. Today I did a few exercises from a chair (seated) workout video. It seems like nothing doing at first, but by the time you hit the 50ish mark you're starting to feel odd muscles activate. I never got the hang of Pilates, I think I'd have to do it in front of a mirror to get it right and there's insufficient space in front of mirrors at my place.

looking at some trailers it reminds me of when I visited the ISS at Cape Canaveral, everything white/off white, cylindrical rooms just covered in controls, every inch utilised and kind of furnishings in the walls

Yeah it's wild! We didn't study it until 3rd year uni and we all had these exact conversations! It's mind-blowing but fun when you realise you grasp a little piece
