My first car was a broken down lemon of a 2001 BMW 325i. Electrical problems out the wazoo. Overheated and lost one of the grills on the way home. I had to replace the radiator. It needed to be kept on a charger just to start. I later learned the gas line needed to be ripped out and replaced. That was on top of the standard stuff. Brakes, rotors etc.

It was my first car purchase. I was with my Mom and we went to this real sketch back ally used car guy. In hindsight it was probably a junkyard or a parts yard. We got down to 2 cars. An manual Acura that my Mom drove and was kinda giddy for because she wants to drive a manual, and the beamer. I really wanted a BMW. I drove it around the block and it made it far enough without me noticing any problems. I was like, that's my car now and got no push back what so ever. I paid $1500 and put in an additional $1000 before I figured out the car will probably never be a daily driver. It lasted for about 3 months. The only bright side was that I learned how to change brakes, rotors, brake lines, batteries, a radiator, and an alternator, all from that one car.

So no I don't regret it. My Mom regrets it more actually. She always says, 'I should have stepped in.' Well you didn't, ohh well.

My next car was the best car I ever owned. A 1995 Toyota Avalon. That car was so smooth. I could get it up to speed and it could stay there no gas for I shit you not 10+ miles. I'd still be driving that car if not for the fact that it got rear ended totaled.

Right after we had a baby and moved into a new place, my husband and I decided we wanted to get a tapestry to hang over our bed to tie the room together. For some reason it turned into this really difficult thing. Like we were deciding on matching tattoos or something permanent, and we just couldn't make a decision. For over a year, we would send each other tons of examples, agree on a bunch, n...

A cheap 3060 on a local Finnish used item online store (Tori)

Was so excited about the price I completely missed that the description said it was only partially functional and likely had a single fuse burnt or something.

Spent days trying to figure out why it kept outputting on 240p for the OS except in text only mode, only to eventually go back to the listing to see if I could return and read that they mentioned it wasn't fully functional.

Deep regrets.

If anyone knows how to repair a graphics card though and wants it however, let me know and I'll give it for cheaper than I paid for. I'll regret it much less then.

Too many to count. What do I even need a safe for? I guess I can put important documents but I truly didn’t need it for anything.

Christy Mack Fleshlight. Used it once and never touched it again. Think it's still in storage

I get it. I know that nothing I do will actually affect his pocketbook, but I still hate giving him even a dime.

If nothing else you are a testament that those asshats are not necessary. And that is valuable on its own regardless of its benefit to you.

You can offer assistance to anyone else on how to buy without using Amazon because there are places and people who may not know how. (If the opportunity presents itself or you choose to create said opportunity)

And you can feel better about your contribution to the economy more than you otherwise might.

It's not a thing that may go noticed, but it still might be all the difference in the world in the worst moment of your life. You could have been worse than you otherwise chose to be and from my perspective and yours, it's a fact that you could have been less than you are now.

Keep up the good work, perhaps your story will inspire someone who DOES change the world. Now or in a 100 years. Who can say?

And I want to personally thank you for your choice in this matter. I appreciate you for it. Hugs

Wtf what kind of self-respecting millennial makes major purchases from their phone

Any purchases that require research are a big screen job.

I did this a lot before I closed my amazon account. They make it way to easy for people who get addicted to shopping. The last thing I bought was a telescope. I have no idea how to even begin to use it. It has all kinds of different lenses and I have no idea what they are for. I guess it looked shiny. It was $260 and is now sitting in my storage building.

Recently I bought a rare bottle of rum. I don't normally drink and after drinking a bunch of it ...I remember why. Haha

This boggles my mind. Why are people buying things they don’t want or need?

There is no way this is amazons fault.

I once impulse bought a motorcycle but I can explain why I did that so...

For the purposes of this thread, I think buying a Mini-2 SE drone is the purchase to talk about. I've always been interested in radio controlled flying things, and I had the extra money, and it was on sale, so I bought it. I don't regret it at all, though, because it turned out to be incredibly useful and fun. I had it for a couple of years until two weeks ago, when I flew the poor thing camera-first into a steel beam, which didn't destroy the drone but put it firmly in the "cheaper and easier to get another drone than to fix this one" territory.

Now I have a license and people pay me to take pictures sometimes.

I bought a custom sectional sofa for way too much money to shove into a too-small room.

I think my thought process at the time was that I would have a place to relax and also a spot for guests if I had them over for entertainment, but it took up so much space that it was more of a hindrance and I very rarely had people over and when I did they didn't want to be packed into a small spare bedroom that I used as a computer room.

Couldn't sell it either. Had to pay junk removal to take it away.

I bought an ATI Rage Fury Maxx for a lot of money on eBay. It's one of the first dual GPUs, based on the Rage 128 chip.

However, back then there was no flow control between the two graphic chips, which means a lot of games horribly stutter if one of them renders a bit faster than the other. There are a few games that work really well with it, and a shit ton of games that don't.

The card is an absolute novelty, a piece of history and it looks cool. But there is no good reason for putting this in a retro computer, because even a regular Rage 128 will run better.

I don't regret getting it, but I regret paying too much for it. 🫠
