Seems like reinvesting in their infrastructure would yield longer term benefits for their system. I envy how much firefighters have embraced a communal format based on societies needs not for profit. That should be rewarded with a financial surfiet and literally unlock not just technology for the now but for research and development. Seems like lots of shit is on fire, yo.

Ultimately, I find the police system abusive and badly formed. It abuses the officers and people alike in my opinion. And I have no other system to offer to stop humans from human-ing at any scale. So I prefer the police to have at least the most batman tech that helps makes the option "let's not sacrifice the cop's life for this" seem like the obvious one.

That currently requires para-military tactics and gear that long since passed from "tactical" into "polemical". And that is difficult to support. I know of no other way to help have police not die in a country with 450 million fire arms and .50 cal rifles as trophies.
