While ongoing research is needed to confirm how much of a difference mobile scans really make for patient care, physicians say there’s immense promise for improving surgical outcomes and reaching patients in rural and remote regions.

“It's an exciting technology. It clearly has demonstrated a clinically relevant context of use,” said Yale University neuroscientist Dr. Kevin Sheth, who studies new medical technology. “We're at the very early stages of needing a lot more research to really understand, in a meaningful way, how it can help patients.”

There are even CT scanners on trucks. This way you can drive to a patient and diagnose a stroke right there, and start therapy earlier.
