Google calls every redesign the biggest one in a decade, but the actual navigation UX has stayed functionally identical for years. If the underlying routing algorithms still prioritize routes that benefit Google's partners over the fastest ones, a fresh coat of AI paint will not change much. How much of this redesign is genuine user-facing improvement versus Google's way of keeping Maps feel relevant against competition? |
