Yeah, we are trying to stop that too. We dont want weapon systems that can be disabled by unstable president. |

No one knows. This entire thing is a temper tantrum. He's apparently applying these tariffs under a different law than the one they used previously, which does explicitly allow the president to apply temporary (150 days) tariffs of up to 15%. I 100% agree, especially with the dementia part. But I also think that his handlers are goading him towards actions that destabilize the US and therefore drastically break the Image the rest of the world has of the US. Not that it was a good image, but it was one of power. We have rapidly moved from one of the 3 main powers fighting for control of the world to a absolute mess plagued by fascists. |

Only up to 15% and only for 150 days. After that Congress has to approve an extension. That being said... I don't know if there is any actual codified safeguard in it to prevent him from just stopping it and starting a new set again. I haven't looked at the exact wording.
If the last ~400 days suddenly has been illegal then you would think that his new order would already be meaningless. If not then why wouldn't he just write a new executive 149 days that implements a new set of tarrifs and cancels the previous set? |
