The upcoming avatar movie leaked, it sounds like the script, screenshots and possibly the entire movie is circulating.

Also for some reason (before the leak) Paramount decided the movie wouldn't get a theatrical release. Who ever is making the decisions out there is not setting it up for success.

Anyway, if you can watch the movie from an official source, please do so their numbers reflect as many people as possible.

Only saw the first 20 minutes so far (started watching super late at night).

The animation is great and the premise seems decent, if not a bit similar to S1 of Korra.

I haven't see it myself, yet but it's supposedly incredible!

Staying spoiler free here, I definitely enjoyed it, but not as much as the original series. But that is a very very high bar to pass with me. Animation is fantastic, and that world has never looked better. Voice Actor wise, it was hard for me to adapt to some of the new voice actors, but the original is a comfort show for me that I've watched dozens upon dozens of times, and I think a lot of the voices might just be too ingrained to me. Katara just doesn't sound right if it's not Mae Whitman to me. Same with Zuko and Dante Basco. The new Toph and Aang were pretty good though, and the new Sokka actor was actually a lot better than I expected.

Story was good, my only real complaint being that if you know your Korra, you'd know that certain things have to happen or not happen in this movie to keep that start of Korra canon. In general, if you like the original series, I don't see why you wouldn't like the new movie.

True that movie compared to original was pretty shit.

It's solid, not as emotionally in-depth as you might be expecting from Avatar but given the runtime that makes sense. The animation and storytelling are extremely well done but also heavily from modern anime, this is sort of a double-edged sword where it looks very polished but perhaps less unique.

Totally agree about the Katara VA.

She sounds the least like Mae, whereas everyone else “passed” in my mind.

I stay away from leaked shows/movies. It feels like stealing, then I saw the Paramount logo. Watched the movie 3 times. I love it!
