Previously when getting a e-SIM i used Airalo because it was easy enough, but now when loading up the app it invokes play integrity checks and refuses to login because it "Couldn't verify the app".... That is pretty god damned uppity for a app that wraps a website to show you a QR code. Trying out the kycnot.me service list of privacy respecting vendors... I found that stealths is half the cost of airalo for the same data/time... true it kinda sucks to wait for the XMR (monero) transaction to clear before getting the eSIM qr code.... but they have no opinions on my phone operating system. To be clear - I don't think there is much value in a privacy eSIM provider (phones have locations IMSI's and who knows what other hardware identifiers) which makes tying a eSIM to a physical phone, and a person pretty straightforward... but I do see lots of value of a un-opinionated service provider that just does cash transactions. Previously the only trouble I had with apps on my phone were some banking apps, which also should respect my choices, so its troubling that more apps are going that direction |
