Same but for Samsung. I like my foldables too much. The Fold 7 is the greatest phone I've ever owned.

New Rule: non-apple, non-Google, non-Samsung

Never have I seen so much fucking bloatware in my life. None of it uninstallable.

Not one-time while owning a Samsung did I ever feel I actually owned the device I paid $800 for.

New "urgent" update in the middle of video job interview at 11 AM? To install Candy Crush? Are you kidding me? Oh wait - you also removed all of my default apps like SMS, and my browser because..??? Who would ever want that?

They're worse than Microsoft - they don't even offer a "Not now" dark pattern.

And I want a freaking small notification LED back that tells me what’s going on without any annoying sounds or having to turn on the display and wasting battery charge every few minutes.

Best we can do is flashing your camera led blinding everyone in the room

I use GrapheneOS and I believe in their goals, but honestly, the people behind the OS doesn't seem to get along with anyone else in the whole world.

They got along with Motorola somehow ???

It's ironic that arguably the best way to de-Google a phone is to get a Pixel and use GrapheneOS.

My buddy did that. Didn't read the fine print. So he either pays off the $700 phone cash or let's Google invade his life long enough for it to be paid off by monthly credits, and he can unlock the bootloader.

everyone mentioning Motorola here. something to keep in mind if you lovelive in the US. Motorola exports chip manufacturing to China. The FCC just blocked products that use technology that sourced from China. you might be waiting to buy one domestically.

if you love in the US

We love many things 🏴‍☠️ 🍻

I still weep at the loss of HTC as a viable phone maker.

Some Motorola phones still have that.

Curious how the Linux phone movement is going. Ubuntu touch seemed pretty cool

I daily drive Ubuntu touch on a Fairphone 5. It is totally doable, but there is some sacrifice compared to the experience on a commercial OS. I think you will also get the best experience on UT if you lurk around in the community, as there are some good tips there on how to get the most out of it. (Like which smart watches are compatible, which browser is the least buggy, how to customize stuff)

Motorola also has foldables so maybe one day in the future they’ll ship one with grapheneOS if this launch works out.

If they release one that is as thin and light as a normal phone when folded, but unfolds to an 8 inch screen, I will definitely consider switching to ditch Android. I will miss Samsung's Modes and Routines feature, though. It's much more intuitive than Tasker. I'll miss DeX as well.

I do have an android phone. There is no google on it by default. Have you ever installed android before? By default, it's without gapps. You have to download an extra package even to get the google crap on it.

Every phone comes that way stock from the factory. You know that, but weirdly are ignoring that fact to be smug for some reason.

Comes what way? Without an OS?
