This community is intended as a place for discussion regarding building digital communities and spaces. The intended audience are the admins, moderators, and curators of digital spaces, not general purpose users. The idea is that by facilitating discussion between the organizers and activists managing these communities, a set of best practices will begin to organically emerge.

Welcome to the nostalgia-filled piefed instance of yesteryear.

Open Registration with Application questionnaire.

If you have a question or comment you can post in !meta@retrofed.com or message @DosDude@retrofed.com or @Die4Ever@retrofed.com

In case of downtime and/or emergency, we will post updates on @DosDude@mastodon.social

Some rules we try to uphold:

Be civil. Bigotry is not welcome. This includes (but is not limited to): transphobia, queerphobia, racism, ageism and ableism. We do not promote hate.
Communities need to be Retro or Retro-adjacent.
Please don't upload pornographic content. (use an external image host for that)

Independent forges like Gitea instances are losing to MS Github -- due to lack of community building mindedness. Almost no thematic nodes.	3	activistPnk	2	Tue Mar 17, 2026 2:46 pm »
Lemmy is a chaotic disaster. Hecklers sabotage communities they oppose, while misguided but culturally aligned people get poached by centralised nodes (LW, sh.itjust.works, etc)	0	activistPnk	1	Thu Feb 5, 2026 1:29 pm »
