Minority of a minority of a minority.
Them and the "make it smaller crowd" too. A very small, very loud minority that fails to actually show up when such a product is released. |

So you have options..? And because it's still profitable either way.
Oop, sorry, Canuck corrected me saying Fairphone does not have 3.5mm jacks on Fairphones now |

They literally just said the answer. Which I think was obvious tbh. Apple (and Google) literally sell the most losable objects ever made for $200+. They are greedy capitalists. Of course they're gonna try to push you into that.
The Motorola Moto G Stylus 2026 still has 3.5mm ports, the same company that is selling the phone for this GrapheneOS phone, just a different model. They also sell moto buds. |

Are you trolling? You're now trying to explain to me that engineers don't get to decide the features? Literally what I said from the beginning. If you're high or something that's cool but don't be so confident in an argument. This was...weird
You skipped the last couple of sentences of my post, apparently |

The phone looks ok, but I'm most disappointed that the price will likely be $1000+. What's the runner up OS for the midrange? Running GOS on pixel 8 since launch and looking to move in the next ~2 yrs |

Better? Isn't this already a premium phone? Idk much about phones.
My major issues with it is that it's the first phone to officially support Graphene, so you'd think it would cater to a different demographic. Yet there's no headphone jack, no SD card support. And it's WAY too big. It's just another boring modern phone that is selling itself on being unnecessarily powerful. |

No you want the vast majority of people don't care at all.
But like, it doesn't hurt you. It's not like you have to choose between a phone that can do Bluetooth or a phone that has a headphone jack. Your opinion hurts us, bit of Orpington doesn't hurt you. You see that right? |

Though the problem is... If this flops, will there be a 2nd phone that supports gos? |

Im sure the device is end of life after 6 years anyways, so that sounds about right. I personally havent ever had a usb-c port fail, but ive only been using iphones and pixels. Good workaround with the wireless charging though.
No the device works great, the port failed like 3 years ago. The glass part is meant to be replaced and I've gone through a few but they're like $30-40. The rest of the device still works just fine. |

Does anyone know if it has a headphone jack? It seems dumb to brag about having B&O work on the audio if not, but I am still thinking it won't which will kill any interest in it. Edit: I confirmed it does not have one. total junk
What a lot of whining over a stupid plug. You guys have absolutely no idea what it's like to own a graphene phone. |

So, is GOS, like purposely saying "fuck the poors?" Why spend resources getting flagships when they need to focus on budget phones. Unless they dont give a shit about expanding privacy phones to everyday people.
GrapheneOS has never focused on being widely accessible |

As far as I know, the problem is that Lenovo doesn't make the SOCs that actually implement the security features GrapheneOS requires; Qualcomm does (assuming this phone uses a Snapdragon chip - I didn't check). And Qualcomm only puts these security features into the most powerful SOCs, which are themselves only appropriate for flagship phones. I hope that some day more budget SOCs will get thes...
There's a lot that Qualcomm could do better support-wise |

at least this one is now horizontal. so if the individual lens does not protrude too much away from the island, like the iphone 17/18 do, it shouldn't rock when it's on a flat surface. despite the stupid trend of putting massive islands o. the back of the phone, when well designed it acts as a finger cliff to balance on my hand. I hand a large hand so mileage will vary as always. |

RAM prices have made it impossible for mid range phones to get the same profit margins they had before. Get a 2nd hand Pixel before they go up even more |

the thing is that your phone has a serious issue if the power connector fails. meanwhile if the headphone jack fails, you can still use your phone. |

200 MP is craaazy high (as a layman). that's like, 10k Γ 20k screen resolution, right? also i'm torn about SD cards. they sound good but also are a security hazard. anybody can pull them out and read them, right? for a portable device, i really doubt that that's good-enough. |

Apparently it is to use cloud services π pixel phone storage was incredibly small. At least this phone has up to 512GB internal storage allegedly. For a ridicous price I assume. |

i mean you can just pull them out and read all data on them, so obviously yes i mean you could technically use an encrypted file system on them ... but that's probably not compatible with the vast majority of card-reader programs out there so people are gonna complain next that you can't look at your SD card photos from a desktop computer ... |

for me personally, repairability is a negative on portable computers. the reasons are security, size, cost, regular lifetime. these are all negatively correlated to repairability. if you can screw your device open, that means that so can an attacker. it makes the phone bulkier and less efficient IMO if they have to keep in mind that every connector on the inside has to be standards-compatible. |

If Graphene would run on the iPhone it would be my first choice. But my privacy is more important than sexy hardware. Still no SD cards though.. but not even the Pixel does that |

You'll notice mid to high end Motorola phones do not have the headphone jack, that's because they know those segments are more likely to afford being able to pay for their Moto wireless headphones, while mid to low end phones still have it. In North America, where your choices are primarily Apple, Google, Samsung, and Motorola, they are able to capture that part of the market, people who are too poor or unwilling to pay for wireless earbuds, or are unwilling to forfeit the feature to for better specs elsewhere |

the CIA is behind it. they don't want the masses (= poors) to be able to talk privately and maybe organize a significant political change or sth. it's all about keeping the possibility for mass-surveillance open. technically, it would be trivial to add a TPM chip to every SoC. that would literally cost less than $10 per chip; maybe they wouldn't have to add a chip at all but could do it all in firmware already, depending on how the exact boot mechanism works. there is clearly no technical reason for not doing it; the reason why SoC makers don't add it has to be because of ideological decisions. |

What? What are you talking about? Expandable storage is for photos, videos, music, books, etc... not for "important data." Pixels made their storage tiny specifically to push users to use Google Drive, Google Photos (pushing the "clean your device" store everything in the cloud BS), YouTube Music, etc... A vast majority of people also use their phone as an MP3 player and camera and apps, not just a chat device. My music library is not crazy and would not fit on a pixel together with my photos/videos, for example. |

That hasn't been my experience in the past with android at all. I have missed having that extra storage the past few years of owning a pixel. That said I made my choice to buy a pixel for graphene and I stand by that choice. |

Granted, I would only keep a large collection of music on such a card. Wouldn't care if someone removed the card and went through that. However, would the security issue be that some one could put something malicious on a card and insert it ? |
