Ironically it’s Tim Burtons fault it went to Schumacher after his self indulgence with Returns. If he’d matched the tone of the 1989 movie (wildly successful) it could easily have been another hit. That whole situation leads me to the unpopular opinion that the 1989 Batman was as good as it was because of Burton, yes, but importantly the other creatives and producers.

I think the penguin one has stood the test of time the best

St. Elmos Fire. It's a one hit wonder, but the movie it was written for was typical 1980s "friends with issues" pablum. The kind that was better written and acted in a dozen other movies.

Is the song that popular? In my circle, people only know it from the movie (but a lot of people know the movie).

I don’t know the song or the movie!

Who wants to live forever from Highlander.

I mean, when you are getting Freddie Mercury to write your soundtrack, you are just asking to have your movie get out shined. Hell, the sound track is 50% of what's carrying that film. (the TV series was better, IMHO.)

I've yet to meet anyone who's heard Scotty Doesn't Know by Lustra, who has also seen Eurotrip.

This isn't where I parked my car.

I'm surprised no one said Dolly Parton's 9-to-5.

The graduate soundtrack by Simon and Garfunkel. Mrs. Robinson was a work in progress and adapted to fit the movie, and sound of silence, and Scarborough fair are classics of the period and folk rock pillars of the century. Interestingly, this was one of if not really the first time popular, contemporary artists had their music featured in a film. Prior, scoring a film was the purview of someone...

I was going to say Pink Floyd did it earlier with More https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_(soundtrack)

But it turns out The Graduate came out a couple years earlier

Axel F - Harold Faltmeyer ("Beverly Hills Cop" title) The movies were super popular, but the title music became chart topping, and basically turned into the archetypical sound of the 80's

And then got frogged.

The Bodyguard soundtrack is a top tier album on its own merit; the movie is okay.

I’ve has it on CD since the 90s. It’s one if those CDs I don’t think to play as often, and I normally give those away. But every time I give it one last listen I decide to keep it. Some excellent tracks on it.

I will Always Love You from The Bodyguard.

Ok but it was a Dolly song way before then. But Dolly said that the song “became Whitney’s” because of her performance.

Yeah, I’m surprised to learn it still has a strong following. It was too pantomimish for me, but I made my own fan edit that’s about 45 minutes shorter and I find that more watchable. Different strokes, etc.

I haven't watched it recently but i really related to Catwoman 's arc, how it was kind of like an insanity and compulsion

For sure. And I love Dolly as much as seemingly every other human on earth. I’m just saying the Bodyguard version was an absolute smash hit that many amateur singers have struggled to recreate since.

Hey hey hey!

Definitely not better, although still a great show.

Upstart Crow reminded me very much of Blackadder— but would definitely have benefited from more Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry, lol (and, yes, Rowan Atkinson, too)

It seems like David Mitchell knew the show wasn’t going to continue past the third season, and his heart really wasn’t in it. Or maybe he just ran out of ideas?

Batman Forever is tied with The Dark Knight as the Best Batman Movie Ever. It’s perfect. They might be in my book as The Best Superhero Movies Ever.

I’m not a superhero movie fan.

Batman Forever fucks, tho.

Would? by Alice in Chains was from the Singles soundtrack. The song was great, it was included as the last song on the album Dirt that came out shortly after the movie.

Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission.

The movie was incredible but I feel like that tune has really stood the test of time.

I'm surprised no one said Dolly Parton's 9-to-5.

I watched that for the first time earlier this month. I was NOT expecting what it actually was.

I thought it was just at most like a concept album film, but way more likely to just have her as the soundtrack to a bad movie with a silly and relatable "fuck up your boss" theme.

Now I know she was respected for her vocalized beliefs and inclusion, but I really didn't think it would go that hard. I was blown away.

Plus I was pretty high when I watched it, and some of those scenes were trippy af. It was a good day.

Not sure if David did much of the writing, both TMDB as IMDB only credit Ben Elton for the writing.
