Alcohol generally, beer more specifically. I dont particularly like the taste of alcohol, and beer is just way to bitter for me generally. Ive had some wine that was decent, and occasionally ill have a cider, but I generally just don't understand why people drink alcohol. I really enjoy the taste of alcohol, especially strong drinks like rum. I drink it neat and it's amazing. The bitterness of ...

what language is that saying from?

closest I can think of in USAmerican English would be "the customer is always right in matters of taste" (though it's commonly shortened to just "the customer is always right" and the context and similarity to your quote are both lost)

personally, a saying I use a lot that's in a similar vein is "to each their own"

I absolutely love the taste of energy drinks. The more artificial and tangy, the better. It's hard to find, but there's a soda that tastes like an energy drink without the caffeine and I buy it whenever I can.

which drink is that?

Numerous people have said coffee, but I will be more specific: I despise 3rd wave coffee. Its often sour and disgusting. I love Italian coffee though.

what is 3rd wave coffee? I was shocked the first time I tried a proper pour over light roast... the sweetness naturally in it is so good

For me it's anything diet or zero branded. Fucking aspertane. That bitter aftertaste just feels like someone raped the sugar out of the beverage.

Weird fact about it, it has the same amount of calories per gram as sugar too! It just happens to be approximately 200x sweeter, so they can add 200x less.

Lithuanian.

The customer one we definitely took from English speaking world and even then it isn't much of a thing.

Carbonated flavored water. I do not understand how people can drink something that’s only claim to flavoring is that it at some point sat near a fruit of some kind.

I like them. It has a little flavor and no sugar. It's basically water but with a little variety.

I think people don't actually like energy drinks, they are just caffeine dependent.

Sometimes I just want some chemicals.

Saw several coffees mentioned and that got me wondering.

I have had good cafe coffee once in my life. Most of the cafes make sugar nonsense. When I order black coffee, it's a coin flip between burnt bitter mess and fucking battery acid.

Now what are the chances that many people haven't had a decent cup of black coffee?

I'm glad I'm not the only one. For some reason I like that generic energy drink flavoured energy drink.

The equivalent phrase in English is “there’s no accounting for taste”

All of the coffee flavoured energy drinks give me the turbo shits, hadn't had any of them until recently so got a set imported, couldn't work out what it was until I ran out of the cans and went back to normal (will agree they taste alright, if no a little like cafeteria coffee with UHT milk and plain sugar)

But I will argue that the European flavours actually taste like real fruits, you don't get the petrochemical derived colours and flavours aftertaste that they try to mask with acidity in the US versions.

It's why gamersupps is king - flavours taste like they're supposed to, the only sour ones are intentionally so, and they replaced sugar with sucralose, so you dont get that stevia/artificial sweetener taste.

Third wave coffee?? Fuck are coffee waves?

As I understand it, 3rd wave is in opposition to the old trend of blending coffees from different sources as well as mixing Arabica (considered the best) and Robust a (considered shit by lessers). So 3rd wave focuses on a single type of coffee from a single source, a heavy ficus on Aribica and much lighter, less bitter roasts. To me its all just sour.

I prefer blends as you can create unique flavor profiles. That woukd include blending Arabic a and robusta.

I just want it to taste good. I don't have a strong preference here. There are nice blends and I've tasted nice specialties (way less experience here).

Bends just seem way easier to get consistent.

It's a nice theory, but you're forgetting about ciders and drinks like mead, which can be very sweet. As for caffeine, I found that if you started drinking it with sugar, you have to actually want to give up sugar to switch to black. There's no need to ever drink it black otherwise. I gave up sugar in my 30s and had to acquire a taste for black coffees. I gave up milk around the same time, whic...

i use a non-dairy creamer for mines, and the low cal options. i use the non-aspartame sweetener.

i like dark chocolate too, but i prefer mostly 85%-90%+ anything lower than that is just to milky and sweet.

Seconded. I'm willing to believe that a decent amount of people like it, tastes changing from person to person, but I really tried and I feel like there might be a lot more peer pressure in there than we expect.

That's wild, I've enjoyed most coffee I've had. I can't actually think of one I didn't enjoy, maybe a burnt roast a decade back? But yeah definitely different tastes.

Coffee I get it, it's an acquired taste. But I sure don't like it.

the caffiene makes it bitter, people seem to like the cafestol, if they using unfiltered coffee, which apparently not good for you. its definitely acquired taste, i did not like it when i was still college, when i drank a stronger for first time.

Somehow it does the opposite for me. It makes me feel more thirsty, even though I know that's not the reality. I guess it just makes my mouth feel dry?

All diet drinks. Whatever sugar substitutes they use taste awful no matter what. Now there are products I can't consume because the default version has fake sugar as well. Nasty stuff.

aspartame, is the most common amongst diet sodas brand names. people dont like stevia soda, because some people apparently taste it differently.(the brand names like zevia, makes it sickly sweet)

Part of it is just getting used to it. I used to hate the no sugar versions of Coca-Cola®️. Other than the taste the viscosity is also ‘wrong’ in Coke zero. The sugary versions is much thicker. I switched anyway because I was drinking too many calories. Strangely though, real Coke now tastes weird to me. There is this strange aftertaste that I never noticed before switching to zero.

im the same with diet "soda", now the sugary ones is just too sweet and you know you feel bad drinking it. i think mexican coke, aka cane sugar is the best one from what ive heard.

I've had this thought as well. In the US, most people's first experience with coffee is months old Folgers or Starbucks. These two examples are both burnt and taste like battery acid. So, of course they're going to hate coffee.

Well beer is amazing, but it's the same as with coffee. You need to force yourself into liking it first and eventually it will taste good. I also might be biased because I have access to Bavarian beer, especially the small local breweries are just top notch.

Our local coffee shop only has sugar in the raw, and stevia. Blech.

there isnt much options for sweetners, its either sugar, stevia, somehow they might have ethyrthiol, but that can causes loose bowel movements, so itas uncommon

Like the taste but my system doesn't agree with it.
I feel bloated and it makes me have stone in my stomach.

After a bit it settles and I can drink it.
Rather have a wine or dark rum once every month or so.

ITT: People answering "drinks I don't like but others do", which has nothing to do with the OP. But to be fair OPs question is not really anything that can be answered objectively anyway, since taste is very subjective. So one person not liking it does not mean that other peope who claims they like the same thing are lying, they most likely really do like it.

Anyway, the thread would probably have been more relevant if OP had asked "Something you don't like, but is liked by others?".

I prefer beer than soda and it can pair nicely with some foods but most of it simply doesn't taste good on its own. "Beer is great" is mostly a social construct.

You are absolutely correct, and every single answer in this thread are expressions of pure subjective taste. I think it is the loaded question form of OPs title which is problematic. It can't really be answered, because it assumes that if one person doesn't like something, then anyone else liking it must be them lying about it, which is a pretty daft scenario.

I don't know about that. Sure, society kind of pushes you to like and drink beer but I do actually find it refreshing. As I said, the small breweries actually make good beer that–especially in Bavaria where beer is typically less bitter.

Its hard to describe but I'd say it's not the immediate taste so much as it is the aftertaste (both are bad but the latter is worse). It's just a lingering, unpleasant fake sweetness that sticks around for way too long.

The thing is most chain cafes here only serve coffee from an espresso machine and most people here are familiar only with chain cafes. So best case they tried americano type of drink, which to me is always very harsh.
